It's a different violence now. A different darkside. It's still same crimes but done in a different smarter manner. Got to remember the 80's obviously didn't have the tech of survallence today. So people would just do whatever on the spot. Plus was more one on one physical and personal. Now it's violence done in mass groups/catching off gaurd or weapons. A lot of posers and people just trying to reenact/reinact criminals of the past with advance technology and different appearance.

In the 90s, SciFi had TFTD re-runs from 11pm to midnight, EST. I rented a high-ranch in a wooded area around a lake. The lower level had double sliding glass doors and the windows were long, almost floor to ceiling - of course, there were no blinds on either. The series itself wasn't scary, but the opening and closing sequence always got me, especially at that place in time.

I always felt the scariest, creepiest places where those picturesque places like what’s shown in the intro. As a kid, when we’d go cross country camping, the places that were beautiful by day, were down right creepy at night. Many a times, my cousins, brothers, and sisters would all travel in the mobile trailer, and from the comfort of our blankets, would talk about how scary the country side of America was.

Ah, pre-Internet entertainment at its creepiest! As a kid from The Bronx growing up during the 80's and 90's, this was hands down #1A on all time scariest TV openings. #1B? Why, Tales from The Crypt, of course! I put them in that order because Darkside used to air on WPIX Ch. 11 in NYC back then. So I could always tune in, where as Crypt came along just as my neighborhood got cable service. My family was able to afford cable service, a luxury younger generations laugh at now. The actual episodes aren't even scary! Only a little tiny bit scary, it's just the intro and closing themes that are VERY scary. Imagine if you heard this on TV when you are only 5 years old all alone in the house!

This intro always scared the hell out of me growing up, yet kept me glued to watching the show, we had it good with entertainment then

I used to get so pumped when I was little & I'd hear this intro! "Oh, boy! Tales from the Dark Side is on!" & I'd park my little self in front of the TV. This was when I was really little so I was at the mercy of what my parents watched a lot, before I had a TV. When I'd hear this intro, I'd come running. Now, on the opposite end of the TV theme song spectrum was M.A.S.H.. I couldn't stand that damn show & my parents loved it. Whenever I'd hear that do, do, do, do- do, do, do, do & I'd look up & see that freakin helicopter- aaaarrggghh!!! 😆
