Such a beautiful part of America not ignoring the sadness that comes with that. A couple of men from my County of Waterford, Ireland died on that Battlefield.

Been there twice. Both times a soul wrenching experience. I could have done without the freeway traffic noise, but you have to remember that most all trails to the West ended up being major routes. -- I spent a short time in the Deep Ravine. Even with the traffic on the freeway it was still a haunting place. Like... The world moves on and these souls who were lost here are still stuck in 1876. Rest well soldiers.

I like that "surprise" at the end. There are many more "surprises" yet to be learned. Some from those entrusted for secrecy. Others for new discoveries. 💯

My wife and I drove through the Battlefield back in September 2016. It was a tremendous experience. You could almost feel the confusion of the soldiers trying to fight back. I can't imagine what was going through their minds.

Great video, fantastic series. Lived in SW NoDak many years, visited Ft Lincoln several times and the LBH monument half dozen times. Worked as a volunteer w Fox on an NFS archaeological reconnaissance of the Sibley-Custer Trail and Snow Camp. So much more information comes to light every year. Thank you for this series.

I was lucky enough to ride the battlefield. I was able to ride the Keogh sector, Deep Ravine from the head cut all the way to the river. The battle makes more sense when you can see it from the back of a horse. I was able to locate markers that had not been seen in years in a ravine that branches south of Deep Ravine. The final ride was a charge from Deep Ravine to Last Stand hill. You could hear a pin drop as we made that ride.

I am always amazed at the quality and value of the videos you post. Well done again. I find this battle so strategic and honorable on the part of the Indian Nations and so arrogant on the part of Custer. But it comes alive as we listen and learn from the experts (you among them) as the video progresses. Thanks.

Fascinating information! You really got some interesting comments about the battle from the speakers. Too bad the river was so swollen but we need the extra water this long and hot summer in the West.

After looking at the Major Reno Inquiry online. I found it on google. What I found stunning, was Captain Banteen had no situation awareness. He didn’t know which officers were in charge of the other columns or Custer’s plan to take the village. Major Reno had no situation awareness either. He was expecting as told that the whole outfit will support him. After Reno hit the village, his support never came and he didn’t know where Custer was at. I think Custer like General Crooke didn’t believe that the Indians capable of fighting back or beating his outfit. This was Custer’s downfall unlike General Crooke who had Crow Indians to bail him out. By the way I believe Sgt Kniipe was order to the rear. I likely misspelled the name. In Banteen testimony he mentions a NCO who had a verbal message to him to speed up the pack train. He didn’t say the NCO name. Banteen likely didn’t know him, but he told the man that he wasn’t in charge of the PACs and sent him on his way. I was like you, I thought the guy bailed on his troop as well.

Glad I discovered your videos. They are fantastic!!! I've been a student of Native American culture since I was a young kid. I especially have studied the Plains Tribes and the Pueblo/Hopi cultures the most. Amongst the Plains tribes the Sioux and specifically anything dealing with Crazy Horse have been some of my favorites and the ones I have read into the most. My goal is to get out to this site and see it for myself and connect the studying to the actual terrain. Question about the bus tour, is that offered everyday or just at the anniversary? Thank you for your service, at it is Veteran's Day weekend, from a fellow Veteran.

That Winter of the Little Big Horn it was noted that heavy snow fall more than usual along with heavy spring rains had the River level up which along with beaver damn stalled Custer crossing there! In fact Custers last words were DAMN BEAVERS! Renos crossing didn't have Beavers building up the area there!

zelo enostransko in subjektivno. za objektivno sliko boja bi bilo potrebno vprašati še drugo stran, ki je branila svoj narod in v tej bitki premagala vojsko kolonizatorjev.
@MilitaryHistory317
@MilitaryHistory317 5 ай бұрын
That's nonsensical. Much of the research was done using Lakota and Cheyenne testimony. PS: They were on Crow Land. I'm sure you have never been on the Crow Reservation and discussed it with them, have you? Put that in your Colonizer pipe and smoke it.
