I am a huge fan of Story-driven RPGs and, to be honest, I really love Happy Endings. So Tales of Arise was a hell of a game! The Romance between Alphen and Shionne is just to heartwarming and cute. After the main story ended, Tales of Arise gave me that sad but deeply satisfying feeling that only truly exceptional games give me: I'm really sad that the story is told... would love to see more content from Alphen and Shionne.

The bitter feeling when you know the journey is over, but you don't want it to end. It is the longing for the words on the pages to move for you like they did the first time you read them. When you didn't know what the next paragraph held and the world in which the characters found themselves was entirely without limit. Because any time you re-read the story, you know that they aren't free to roam anywhere like they were before. They are stuck in a cart on a track and all you can hope for is to notice something about the scene you didn't before, and to just try to relive those feelings you had the first time around. But it will never be quite the same.

This was my first jrpg ever. I had no idea what I was in for. I just thought the combat looked cool. Before I knew it, I was so invested in the characters. It's been a very long time since a game's story got me this hooked. This is honestly the best romance I've seen in a video game.

I just started playing it again, and it's amazing that now I'm noticing how much of a personality change they all got by the end of the game... Especially Shionne, Rinwell and Alphen(not that much but you can see)...and especially the end, I didn't expect a Tales game to have a complete romance with a marriage ending since most always kept it vague with just a hint and I'm really glad it didn't go the sad ending I really thought they'll kill off Shionne and props to Alphen, he didn't give up on anything until the end and as a bonus captured Shionne's heart in the process 😁

50-50 gender distribution has been a staple of Tales series since the very start (counting all optional recruits, not counting characters that can't talk and temporary party members).

Lloyd and Colette of Symphonia became an official couple... in a sequel (2013) where they became supporting characters and the game itself isn't considered a mainline by Bandai Namco but rather an "Escort Title". It's in the same status as the Radiant Mythology titles. Tales of Graces (2009) ending shows a child that looks exactly like Asbel in the Childhood Arc, but the child has the eye color (hazel) and hair color (bright pink) of Cheria. Asbel's eye color is cyan and hair color is Burnt umber. Never spelled out, just a wink and a nod.

At the end of the main story they get married, and a year later during the upcoming dlc expansion they get a daughter. Bandai Namco is really selling the big happy family dynamic with Alphen and Shionne's relationship and I am here for it.

Correct me but what's wrong with them, whether they're still alive or something like that. I don't think it's known yet. Except that she is supposed to be a daughter of both sides. I think it's more likely that Shionne is shown in the DLC credits where she is either pregnant herself or already has a baby in her arms. But why should you adopt them?

@@falke8042 She's the daughter of a Renan Lord and a Dahnan, and last time I checked the only Renan Lords were the participants in the Crown Contest, and since Dahna has been liberated for the past year, there have been no other Renan Lords on Dahna. Meaning her father is either Balseph, Ganabelt, or Vholran. My money's on Vholran or Ganabelt.

And I still don't believe they'll adopt her. (I don't want to argue now, everyone has their own opinion) I think it's more likely that she might even die during the course of the DLC. I would say that in the end Shionne is either pregnant or already has a baby. Simply that they still bring it as fan service. Just like they did with marriage! And because it is the perfect ending that many want to see.

This Game had a good written Love Story who was developing trough the Story. More Games need that nowadays. But great writing is in America pretty rarley seen. But ive seen good writing more often in Anime or Japanese Projects. I dont like Harem Anime or so but there is one Part why i understand why they do it. And thats you are the Player and you pick the Girl you love the most. Basically you could take Harem Anime and put the Main Character and one Girl together. Then make the most important Scenes where the Romance develops and replace with one of the other Girls. Just make a setting where you can decide in the Beginning which girl you pick for Romance and all important Romance Scenes include that Girl. That way each Girl could be the perfect One for the Main Character. Altough i like a Canon Romance too. But that way all are happy and its not easy to start Harem Wars. Because it seems each Girl is the Canon One then. Fun Thing is im trying to write Storys and they are Jrpg like. One has a Harem route and the other one has a normal developing Romance.

i'm really glad this is how it ended. Its juts a shame the rest of the cutscenes in the game are littered with preachy Fortune cookie rubbish. From when you get to Lenegis to the end is just useless cutscene after useless cutscene. They should have cut out the rubbish, and also fed more of the important story bits to the players throughout the game. Instead, especially on Lenegis and Rena, it was just a cheesy movie. But you can't just skip them in case you do actually get a bit with important Story bits. After a little while you do get to recognize some bits though, making it easier to skip. e.g. Yes, Dohalim we know you want to atone for being a Sucky Lord.....we don't need to hear the same thing over and over and over. Shame as its nice to get a game with a story for a change, as well as the fighting etc is all good.
