From Wētā Workshop, known for their work in the film industry, comes Tales of the Shire: A The Lord of the Rings Game, a Hobbit life sim set in the Middle-earth universe of J.R.R. Tolkien. Coming later this year to the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.

I even read the Who Was book about J.R.R. Tolkien who started this series. The Shire is fraternal to Worchestershire and Buckinghamshire along with Bree, Minas Tirith and lots of other places in Middle-Earth to resemble medieval times.

There was already Lego The Lord of the Rings and Lego The Hobbit. Played one, almost ready for the other. I enjoyed both main trilogies and the Amazon original series set before both and I claim the language, Elvish and Orcic to both be mythical like Parseltongue, Minionese and the Na'vi language.

The game looks like it has a lot of potential to be cute, cozy, and fun regardless of whether you're a fan of LOTR or not (I'm not but this still appeals to me). However, I'd be lying if the production value didn't seem like it was... less than what was needed? >.< I mean graphically I think Fable on the original Xbox is far superior to this. It may, in fact, even be able to run on the original Xbox and GameCube.

Tales Of The Uncanny Valley! While this trailer hasn't 100 percent killed my enthusiasm, 'alpha footage' of animations and textures is a really, really bad idea - as is any use of gen AI that the casual viewer has to consider was used to make this odd looking thing. The narrator starts out English and ends up American. 'Foraging friendships' is either the worst pun ever or something only Chat GPT could come up with on a bad day. The invitation to 'wishlist' is interesting as I went to GOG and there's no GOG store page.

You'd think after Gollum they learned their lesson. Clearly not. Animations, models, all look terrible. I get that they're going for a cartoony look but that doesn't excuse this... Those faces are going to give people nightmares. Who okayed this for release? Who looked at this trailer and thought this was okay to put out? Seriously, fire whoever that was... The art looks like it was generated by a cheap AI. The animations look like they were shat out by a North Korean slave farm. I feel really bad for whoever is working on this as after their studio shuts down, they'll be out of a job. If I were them, I'd start looking now and abandon ship. With leadership this incompetent, they're going to sink anyway.

This... doesn't look good. The art style looks more suited for the PS2 in a bad way, plus the inclusion of non-white Hobbits (Middle Earth is a distinctly English mythos AND the Hobbits are only known to be in the northern areas of Middle Earth before you point out the Haradrim, get over it.)
