the biggest problem with this scene is that this happens before Ben Solo turned.. he seems a grandmaster .. but at the end the master failed.. the depressed version of luke is the version that can feel what ben solo is doing too the galaxy.. and he is afraid like Yoda and ben kenobi that he can't to anything.. this is arrogant master luke even if he knows he doesn't know! because if he truly knew what Ben was capable off we saw what that did do him!!!

He never tried that. He felt the darkness in Ben and only had a brief dark thought that he quickly regretted. Ben misinterpreted that and what happened happened. And Luke was quite embarrassed by what he did that he went into exile. And Luke always had those dark flashes as seen in Episode VI

He was a serial killer and nothing less unfortunately, modern audiences don’t care. This makes beloved characters irrelevant in any story. So yeah, when Luke asked in the travesty, that was the second current movie, I won’t even say its name , “ what do you expect me to do go out there and fight a whole army with my laser sword?” The correct answer would have been. He said embrace it, or in a way, accept it, not use it. He says to embrace them, which means to not reject them, but follow the path of healing, not destruction, which is a light side inherent trait. Balance in the Star Wars story is following the path of the Jedi and not succumbing to darkness, so saying balance isn’t wrong. Even Yoda had darkness in him and had to face that and accept it. That doesn’t mean you use both the dark and light, but rather understand your darkness to maintain the light within you.

The whole point of the dark side is that it tries to pull you in when you’re at your lowest or at your highest. It takes advantage of you. As a result, you need to be aware of it and understand that you’ll always have the capacity of evil, but that you have to fight against it no matter what. It’s impossible to destroy evil entirely, but good isn’t able to be destroyed entirely either, and you can, with the help of others, achieve a world where good is as prevalent as possible and evil as disadvantaged as possible. Something anakin and luke achieved until the sequels came in, which I think were not only barely executed, but not very needed either. It’s fine to make a sequel, but you need to ask yourself if it adds to the story or makes it more incoherent than it was before.

Fear of losing them and the restrictions from the Jedi, the probable result of the restrictions caused the anger, and that led to the DS. Why would Ben, with a perfect life, be angry at all? Just because? Anakin was super compassionate, loving and caring, he wasn’t angry just because

I really feel like they missed so many opportunities to make the story great... force awakens wasn't terrible, there were holes, but they could easily have been explained if Last Jedi wasn't, well, Last Jedi... Rey and Kylo were potentially BOTH abandoned kids, Leia and Han would have been neck deep in politics and war, and it would be easy to tell a story about how Ben felt abandoned to his uncle, mirroring Anakin's youth... Luke would realize this and try to help, but Ben wouldn't be open to it. That would make Rey the one person who could really connect to him, and that is the heart of a star wars story. Luke didn't need to wasn't to kill him, all it would take is a shared vision of that last fight. Ben would see it as an omen, perhaps sense Luke's reaction, but Luke would see it a a sign that he couldn't help Ben, that he had to wait for someone else. That sounds like the Luke who saved his father.
