Tacos originated in the North, and tortas are directly from Spain like flan, horchata, and churros.

Over half the population of Northern Mexico immigrated from the South in the last 30 years or so, so who knows. Fun Fact: Northern Mexico used to be very sparsely populated and almost completely Spanish.

Oaxaca might have the best traditional Mexican cuisine but Baja California and Mexico City are the best food destinations in Mexico imo

I think Oaxaca food is the most overrated food in Mexico

Totally agree!

San Luis Potosi, Zacatecas, and Durango are considered part of Central Mexico, but Sinaloa is considered the North because a lot of the original settlers of the North West came from there.

Totally disagree with your thoughts on safety/security in Mexico City. I felt so safe there as a solo woman walking at night.

Dude. I got my cell phone stolen in Oaxaca, in a small town just outside of Oaxaca City. In Mexico City I walked around the whole city with my phone in my hand and nothing happened 😂 And you need to check Villa Hermosa out... (they also have some cool small archeologic zones, and try peaje lagarto (is a typical food from there,). In my opinion Oaxaca food is highly overrated. Try the food in Puebla and Michoacan (Michoacan cuisine was what represented Mexico when the Mexican food got the “patrimonio inmaterial de la humanidad” recognition from the UNESCO).

Totally depends on the day man! Oaxacan food is just very different than that of Mexico city. Maybe you're more into the other style!
