Serial killer Rob Chaulk was a classmate of Chris Jericho’s and used to play gin rummy with Chris and some other guys after school! One day Rob didn’t show up for the card game, and when the reason for their absence was revealed a couple days later, it was unbelievable! Rob and another classmate, Darren Morrissette, had broken into a home and killed a man… and didn’t serve a day in jail for their crime! Winnipeg journalist Dave Baxter, who covered the story, shares the crazy details that led to no jail time for the two then 15-year-old boys, what happened to Rob in the years following that made him a serial killer, and how another infamous Canadian murderer, Vince Lee, is tied to Rob Chaulk.

The murder weapon was a butter knife. I remember that quite specifically from the initial news. I also think they had been casing the fellows home.For some reason they thought he was rich if I remember correctly . It was targeted, no completely random.

Robert Chaulk and Francis Morrissette were both found not guilty by reason of insanity after initial life convictions and Chaulk was released after only four months of treatment, he then went on in 1999 to stab and kill 2 of his neighbors to death. Chaulk was found guilty for the new murders and received life in prison, which is where he sits today.

Shit is fucking crazy...I remember when I was about 12 13 or 14 can’t remember but we lived in an apartment complex in Sarasota FL called The Tuscany and we didn’t know it until maybe a week after this happened but the guy below us committed suicide in his bathtub and was sitting there for a week before they found him due to them doing a utilities courtesy knock. My parents didn’t tell me but I overheard what they were saying..and the worst part is my mom was the cleaning lady there and even though police cleaned it up it was still pretty creepy for her to go in there after and clean the apartment for the next renters.

In 2008 a Chinese-Canadian named Vince Li decapitated, mutilated, and cannibalized a complete stranger on a Greyhound bus. Li was found to be not criminally responsible due to insanity, and was set free less than a decade later. A first-responding officer killed himself due to PTSD. Seriously Canada, wtf?
