Thank you so much for sharing. This is what we need, an engineer from top companies explain the physics concept behind marvelous technology that they created. I've been fall in love with physics since high school.

well, isn't it easer just to use the hole in the ozone? less heat and friction I know it's still e= 1/2m v2 but floating in and out got potential that way

The re-entry process is needed to slow down the module if you want it to not touch down at many times the speed of sound, obviously. the re-entry process may be tough but it is necessary as well

I’ve never heard anyone mention the ozone layer before. Is that really a viable option?

@@RichHomieGon well it sure beats putting more holes in ozone with more global warming 🦨@#$%^&*(space program

Sounds like a plan 👍 So, you are travelling in excess of 16 thousand miles an hour.. you 'pop' through the hole and hit the ice. I can't see a problem with that 💪

I have a good idea! Pick one KZbin comment a month as LM’s favorite, and send them a skunky sticker or lanyard or something like that. Cheers from NH!

Why dont we just slow down re-entry? This would allow space craft to renenter without heating up.

Because of all the extra fuel it would require.
