My favorite detail is when he asks his friend "do you think if you do it once itll give you cancer?" Talking about the cigarette, and then he tries the hand once and has the worst reaction out of anyone in the group, almost dying. Really proves that drugs can also have that effect on people, where once is life changing forever.

The bloated woman who was the first ghost Mia saw possessed her and pretended to be her mom to convince Mia to kill Riley and when that didn’t work, to kill herself so the ghosts/demons had her. That’s why you always see the bloating/hear water in the background after Mia goes home. Because she went over 90 seconds, the portal was open. If she would have stopped using the hand, the ghosts eventually would go away like duckett said. Because she didn’t the ghosts stayed. It is a metaphor for drug addiction.

She never went back the bloated woman because remember when she was talking about he’ll split you that kangaroo that they saw in the street was half dead half life. It was split so when she came back into her body that water woman who played the game before, but she had drowned. She went into the kangaroo. That’s why we see the kangaroo again later on. I’m convinced that the woman that drown played the game before because Mia got hit by a car and then a very end the hand that’s on the other side a guy was gonna let her in in Greek. He sees Mia who got ran over by a car.

maybe i’m a Mia apologist but here is my unpopular opinion: i feel like Joss and Hayley are way more at fault for what happened to Riley than Mia is. they knew what happened to Duckett and ignored and made fun of Jade for saying that Riley can’t do it but listened to her friend say yes he can? and then ganged up on her at the bus stop? Riley couldn’t sleep the night after the first hand possession but Jade still let him watch it again? (Mia was hooked and Jade was smart enough to not do it so she wasn’t attached or addicted to the hand)

That's a bit of a bummer for me now that I saw it. I mean, it's good to see Jade finally protecting her little brother and I guess it's kind of a "justice" thing, but when I was watching this for the first time at a movie theater I thought it was actually Mia's own choice to do the jump, like for a second there she realizes what she's doing, then thinking about her "mother" and what she said about "looking after her dad" earlier that she would've started to think that her mother could also look after her and take care of her in the "afterlife" and then she would've decided to sacrifice her own life in exchange to get Riley back.

You answered your own question. If you don't believe in the supernatural - which fewer and fewer people do these days, thank fuck - then you wouldn't believe you were "inviting" anything in, so the answer is: they'd do it because they have no reason to believe it will harm them, any more than using a Ouija board, or a mirror in a bowl of water, or playing "Supernatural Hide-and-Seek" has "harmed" me.

Spoiler Theories: the drowned woman that Mia first let in mimicked her mother throughout the film. Pay attention to the sound design (it gives u the most clues), the water sounds show up with the mom and the mom looks more and more bloated and wet as the movie progresses. Also, the “they keep you” theory is that if u are still being possessed by the ghosts in their further, u go w/ them if u die but that’s only if u reinforce their presence in u. Mia kept using the hand so her body wasn’t rejecting them like Riley’s was at the end. So much to think about in this movie and it’s a great metaphor for drug addiction. Rob’s reaction was so genuine and I’m getting more and more impressed with Zuff’s prediction skills the more I watch y’all. Keep up the good work! 🙌🏾

Jade 100% pushed Mia which is why she ended up dying, I know it’s not shown but yeah it sucks but also Mia got to a point where she didn’t care about anyone’s safety because she was “addicted” to the hand. The movie talks a lot about drugs if that makes sense, personally a lot of people have said her mom was never there (maybe she was the first time in Riley) but I think because she committed suicide she’s one of the lost ones and she was twisted as well and of course being possessed by the drowned water ghost and being manipulated by her mothers lost spirit she was never going to make it
@the_nikster110 ай бұрын
I don't think Mia's mom was ever actually there. I think the ghost who had Riley manipulated both of them, especially considering the conversation they'd had just the night before.

@JesusDanielChavez-sl5ch11 ай бұрын
Guys, at the end, Mia did die. The Spirits from the hand wanted someone to get killed for them to take their soul, and Riley was the favorite one, that's why they tried so hard to get himself killed. Mia found out about this so she decided to kill herself so that the spirits left Riley alone. And the confusing transitions at the end from the road to the hospital was because a pretty long time has passed away and Riley was leaving the hospital cause he was good at that moment. Plus the father was so calm because of the time jump too. The time is very relative in this movie also, because at the final scene the hand it's already in what it looks to be Greece, and maybe that's what makes it a bit confusing.
@anontay91611 ай бұрын
You can see Jade push Riley if you slow down and watch the scene frame by frame. Mia would have pushed Riley if given the chance bc she was convinced that she was helping Riley. At the hospital, I interpreted Mia’s father getting into the elevator as him “moving on” to an after life. I think the time transitions were to show that the ghosts aren’t perceiving time like us.
@batool2000rox11 ай бұрын
Apparently, it was jade who killed mia by pushing her on the road
@JesusDanielChavez-sl5ch11 ай бұрын
@@anontay916 It's unclear if she got pushed by Jade or not. If you watch the scene you can see Jade reaching the place where Mia was with Riley, but it's not clear if she pushed her. Although, it's very clear that Mia decides not to kill Riley at the very end (she took her hands off the wheelchair). Personally i think that Mia decided to kill herself probably to be with her mother in what she thought it was gonna be the afterlife, obviously fooled by the spirits in the hand.

This film is a great metaphor for drug use/abuse. Not positive if the filmmakers intended that, but the parallels are definitely there. The dilated pupils when “possessed”, the deep breath after saying “I let you in”, the peer pressure, it being fun but also dangerous, using “the hand” as an escape or a way of coping with grief for Mia…. there’s more. It was soooo well done.

I think the scariest part of this movie is sort of realizing or at least questioning who the ghosts/spirits are. They want to believe it's real random people who died or in the case of the main character want to believe it's your mom. But they're just evil and exploiting fears and desires. All this happened in the movie because she wanted to believe she was talking to her mom and she never actually was.

"Talk To Me" offers a captivating narrative with several intriguing elements. As I interpret the story's progression, the drowned woman successfully possesses Mia within the allotted time frame. Subsequently, she manipulates Mia's emotional vulnerabilities tied to her mother's death. Throughout the film, the recurring sound of water serves as a thematic element. In the final shot, the apparent image of Mia's mother behind her and Riley at the underpass is revealed to be the drowned woman, indicated by the flowing water down her hair and face. Regarding the conclusion, a unique perspective is that Jade, Mia's friend, is the one who pushes Mia into oncoming traffic, ultimately saving her brother. In the sequence depicting the approaching vehicle, Mia and Riley are seen on the curb, while a third figure, resembling Jade, is positioned behind them. This interpretation suggests that Jade's actions were driven by her protective instincts towards her brother, even if there were potential witnesses to the incident.

So I really like this movie I recommend watching it more than once to really understand how the hand works I'm pretty sure the spirit that was covered in water and looked like it had drowned was the one that mia was being tortured by because she let that spirit in and went over 90 seconds. It pretended to be her mother in order in either take Mia or Riley Mia's mother was not killed from anything to do with water and yet whenever her mother appears she looks similar to the drowned spirit and proceeds to get more water logged as the film goes on because the spirit pretending to be her is getting weaker As for the ending I think it's supposed to be slightly ambiguous how Mia ended up in the road but I'm pretty sure Jade pushed her to save her brother because Mia hesitated in that last moment
