I’m currently 15 right now with a intellectual disability. I’ve been through many meetings since I was in grade 2. I’m averaging a 77 in school right now, and it’s been hard because I have had suicidal thoughts because I hated the way I think. I feel useless to this world, and no one will need me because I learn differently. I don’t know who I am, or what my purpose is, I have no care for others, because I don’t even care about myself. Since I was little I’ve always have wanted to be a helicopter pilot. But as time went by and I started to realize how difficult it would be I gave up on everything. I lost something in me. I have so many things I want to fix about myself, but I don’t know how! I’m very sad, and I wish I was smart like the girls at my school! I wanna be normal like people at my school! It’s not fair to be me!!

You are NOT worthless.God makes us like we are.And people like you and myself who have this disability have hidden talents that are wonderful.Jesus needs to hear you call out his name.Jesus believe it or not think of his crucifixion and remember he died for you so you can live your full potential and have his divine salvation.he loves you.he really does.Because you are actually more instinctive if I may say.because I sure am.and not alot of people are in touch with them selves.By the way , you don't sound stupid to me. I can't speak with out trying to find words.so writting is easier for me to actually express myself.

I am with you. People that mistreat others because of disability, race, age, gender, or religion really ought to be swatted good and hard. Discrimination is just plain old childish behavior. With me being at the age of 57 I could remember what it was like before the ADA here in the U.S. was signed into law. I have both visual limitations and autism. Back in the days when I was in my teens, my mother thought that the choir wouldn't let me go on tour. And with the type of money I made working at a sheltered workshop, I would not be able to afford going on a trip that utilizes a motorcoach. But now I am older, working a much better job, making more money per hour, and saving a ton of money, I am able to pay my bills, and afford to go on trips that don't require the use of a van. When I type, sometimes letters fade out on me.

It doesn't mean you can go to college if that's what you want to do or anything that you want to do in life you just have to work a little harder and everyone else usually people who have disabilities do things a lot better than people with very high IQs I did a lot of things in my lifetime I want to be and I've done things that many people would say I never would I fly a airplane or drive a car or do things that went to college many different things you can do whatever you want to do it's all the time you're willing to put into it and how hard you want to work I didn't have many of the classes free in high school that I needed for college and he hurt me bad but I stuck in there and never gave up but I have any physical disabilities and fighting chronic pain every day along with other problems it's very hard because I gave up two career fields that I began to love you're never going to fully get away from discrimination know how no matter how many times because they're going to talk about you behind your back and all kinds of things just keep going and you can do anything hang in there

I'm a 34 year old New Zealander that has a 4 year old daughter and yes I'm special needs too with a learning disability and I'm not good at reading sometimes and my spelling still sucks thank you for spell check but even when I went to school I too still had to go through people bulling me verbally and sometimes physically that's also how my friends and I learnt how to fight for us no one is going to come we are on our own and even with there eyes you can still see the judgement some of the teacher adds or students that volunteer or for their University they would be nice to us at school but in public no they didn't want to know us talked about us with there friends and laughed at us so we didn't entirely trust people and stop saying hello to them in public after that we went to Hamilton North school for special needs and there was a age that we could stay at school or leave after we were 18 I stayed until I was 21 because that's what my Dad signed for. I also played basketball we would be in news papers and tv talking about our special needs I was always scared because for me we were putting ourselves out there and could be targets for anyone that wanted to target us and now my new scare is that even though I look normal I'm scare that some people that had bullied me in the past will recognise me with a child and think she's special needs she shouldn't have a child she's not capable to look after a child and try and take my child away from me people keep telling me that's not going to happen but that doesn't help at all it's always going to be there thank you for listening.

There is no respect in this world we live. It's all about vanity. You're nothing in this world without beauty and/or brains. If you don't possess either, you're toast. Done. Don't believe the hype with all of that psychobabble bullshit either. You know, the good people of the world who only want to help build your confidence and skills. Puleez! Deep down inside, they know it's all full of shit. There's a reality in this world, whether people like it or not. Get familiar with it, because things only get worse after high school. As life goes on, it'll be clear as day how the world truly feels about the less fortunate, especially where intelligence is concerned. Without respect, you're nothing. Some people would beg to differ or find this unbelievable, but think again. It's a cruel world in which we live.
