Thanks for this video Richard. Really touched by what you have said. I am glad that I have the attitude of wanting to get on with stuff and also bringing people together. I remember last year I organised a family get together in which some of the close family were um'ing and ah'ing about attending. After much persuasion we had a complete family meal together with all cousins, grandparents, uncle and aunties etc. Unfortunately be grandfather passed away not so long after the meet up but I was so proud to have no regrets regarding his death. Life really is too short and too hectic to not enjoy it. After my degree I plan to travel to NZ for silage and then Canada for a big seeding and harvest operation....just because I want to....and theres no reason in the world why I shouldn't! I like forward to the rest of your videos this year. Thanks. Hywel.

Very touching and honest, I’m a dairy farmer and my dad retired 17 years ago, he’s 85 now and still plays a part on the farm, I have my own home now and young family, but I still have breakfast and lunch in my old home with my parents everyday as the kids r at school and my wife’s at work. I dread the day when there not there anymore so I feel ur pain, but most dads want to see there kids happy and the farm in good hands which it clearly is so he happily knew his job was completed. RIP to him and my condolences to you all.

No head chopping this round, Richard. (made me laugh at your comment). Great to see you, my friend. You're spot on as usual, with all your funkiness and whatnot. I'm glad to see you coming around after all the changes and stuff now that your father is no longer with us. You'll find a way eventually and I wish u the best as it all sorts out. Thanks so much for sharing your personal life and take on this as it impacts the farm. You're very right, we don't get to see and share this on many other farming type channels.

i never experienced this pain but i'll cross that bridge when i have to. but fare play to you for posting the video i'm sure he has left the farm in very good hands. i lost uncle that i never seen for years last year but i was to lazy to get off my arse to visit him he was a farmer and loved his job now i regret it to my heart because its my own fault i said goodbye while he was in his coffin and shouldnt had to because he was 58 and died of a heart attack due a fishing accident. we don't have very long on this earth and life is too short make the most of it.

Richard, I lost my father back in 1978 and I still miss him a lot. Do you have any video footage of him doing everyday things? Maybe you could do a tribute video of him which would be great to share and look back on the years to come.

Hi Rich Thanks for the update,I'd been wondering how you guys were getting on. us farmers are pretty tough and takes a lot more than the average guy to make us hand our notice in and quit, Glad you are going to carry on after whats happened. The small things he did are whats missed as well as a parent, this place don't run so smooth when my parents are on holiday and you need an extra hand and like happened there that one day is coming and nobody knows when. Fingers crossed for the next TB test being good, that was something else I had been thinking about. I tried some of those jelly beans over here in Canada some are just plain wrong in the flavor department, and I think a guy could win a distance spitting competition with some of them L.O.L. See you in the next video. Regards Robert

Richard, 4 years on now. You see now, you do talk with Dad every day. Everywhere you look, he touched the farm. Now you know what to do farming. Dad tought you well. Your turn to pass lessons on to Jack and Harry. Hang in there, bereavement never goes away sorry to say. Focus on happy times you had with your Dad. You say hello to him everyday. I give you a green 💚 for the green pastures where Dad walks. CD in New HampShire🇺🇲👍

Milk price is still falling over here. Same as it was 40 years ago and the govt demands high quality milk but won't pay for it.... The dairy i'm working at now is in crisis. He (63) had double kidney/pancreas transplant this past winter & we're not sure how long he's going to be around. I handle the whole dairy end of the farm no fieldwork and have'nt had a day off since last november. Funny how all those decades i farmed everyday with my dad, then the cows went to sales barn and i thought i could finally have a life for myself.
