I appreciate your interview part 1/2 with Rachel and Jun. This is the most I've heard from Jun... his thoughts were interesting and he seemed very comfortable. Together they are able to show how their love, respect and thoughtfulness of each other's differences makes them a stronger couple. You see the love that is there and it is so heartwarming!Thank you!

I enjoy your video a so much. I am half Japanese and half American. My father was Japanese but born here in America. His parents grew up in Japan in the 1880’s. I grew up, around my father’s family in California but he passed away when I was 12 and I have been around my mother’s family since. Listening to your videos I understand more of my personality and why I see differences in me from others who don’t have a Japanese background. I can see both cultures in myself and how I have many Japanese ways in myself even though I have never been to Japan. I can’t even speak the language but want to learn. I appreciate you guys so much and how you work together and have such an appreciation for each other

Thank You So Very Much For The Subtitles! I love watching and learning all the interesting things Rachel & Jun go through in their lives together. Your videos are fun, entertaining and educational in so many ways. I am positive the two of you have helped many people in the same situation as you. I am not married to a man from a different country but I am married to a man of a different ethnic back ground. Him being African American and me being Caucasian (if that's the correct way to say it) we deal with some people at times that do not agree with mixed races. I am lucky enough to live in a big city between Fort Worth & Dallas Texas so there are many many mixed races here and less people who look down their nose at us so to speak. Thank you so much for your wonderful videos! Keep up the Love!

Hi, Chika! Thanks for the great video. It's really informative and entertaining at the same time. I agree to what Rachel said on the other video that conflicts are avoided because both understand that the relationship that they are in is unlike that of others. Understanding each other to the next level will just automatically fix the situation. So arguments are easily avoided. And it is also important to overcome the language barrier, so the bond gets stronger as the couple understand each other more. Rachel and Jun, thanks for sharing! Best wishes to you, guys!

Great video! Rachel and Jun seem very nice but my husband and I were watching the body language and we didn't see Jun make eye contact once with Rachel. However, it looked like Jun was very comfortable looking into Chika-san's eyes and even smiling at the same time so it's obviously not a cultural issue. Rachel and Jun obviously care about each other a lot so it would be nice to see Jun smile and gaze at Rachel the same way she smiles at him with obvious affection.

It's really nice to watch this video! I'm Chinese and my fiancé is Japanese. We met each other when we studied at a university in Britain. I totally feel the same thing as Rachel, the first day when I met my fiancé we really had a strong crush towards each other. I just felt my whole life is gonna to be changed, all plan ruined. And I think I've decided to come to Japan with him in a really short time. Also, I totally agree with the idea that in a international relationship, when we have conflicts, we have more tolerance because it might be a cultural thing. Another problem about us is, we communicate in a third language English but both of us are not natives in English. But now I can say language is not a problem for international couple at all, we have our own way to understand each other. Now I'm in Tokyo with him, I've been studying Japanese for 6 months. Probably it's easier for me to study Japanese than Rachel since I understand all 漢字😂. Really enjoyed this video, thanks.

Just came across this video (and part 1, which I watched right before this). I think a lot of this applies to any international marriage. My husband is from India originally, and I'm American. We often have the "what does this mean" conversation as well. In our case, it's more me explaining, since he speaks fluent English and I don't speak much Hindi (I took Japanese in school and didn't know any Hindi when we met). We live in America, so I don't get much chance to learn Hindi. But really, I do think that a lot of what you guys were saying applies in our situation as well. ^_^ It's always nice to hear about others having similar experiences.

I am currently dating an international student who is a Japanese man and... I don’t know how my Mum will react. She’s never been supportive of matters of the heart or relationships. We want to make a future together. He is studying in England until September, but what we have Is so special. He is so calm, and collected. I don’t know if it’s a cultural thing. He said he wants a future with me. I am so sure I want to be with him. If my Mother decides against this should I follow my gut and heart or do I listen to my Mother. Sometimes I feel like my parents aren’t living in the 21st Century. I always care about others opinions but this time I want to go with my own decision as I am an Adult. I think maybe wait a year to make a proper informed decision but I want to work toward my Goal of either moving to Japan or he said we could try immigration to Australia or Canada as Britain, isn’t the nicest place to live at the moment.

Most parents never want to let go of their children even if they're fully grown. They still want to have some kind of control over the "kids" under the guise of love because they have difficulty seeing their children as capable, grown up persons. You have to decide for yourself what kind of life you want to live, what kind of future you want to have and whom you want to share that with. Even if the relationship does not work out, if will be your mistake - you will own it, survive it and learn from it. Parents need to realized that they need to trust the children to do what is best for them, all by themselves.

My wife is from the US and I'm from Canada. Culturally, things are mostly similar, but even just being apart was really difficult. We were long distance for a whole year before we were able to spend time together in person for the first time, and another year after that before we were able to move in together. We weren't planning on getting married right away, but we quickly realized that even with her degree and amount of work experience, she wouldn't be able to get a work visa easily unless we got married, so we eloped. We never told our families because we still want to have a big wedding some day, but we're thinking of announcing our "engagement" soon. The biggest culture shock comes from the fact that her family is Caucasian and mine is Latinx. There's certain food that one of us considered staples growing up that the other hadn't eaten before or only once in a while. I was never brought up speaking Spanish (unfortunately) so there isn't much of a language barrier, but she does have some phrases from growing up on the east coast of the US that I find amusing, being from the west coast of Canada. Also, just the way we interact with our families is very different. She feels awkward around my family because we're very formal and respectful to each other, and I feel awkward around hers because they're very rambunctious and tease each other a lot. I wonder sometimes how they'll all get along, not that I see it being an issue, but they're just all really different.
