I know it sounds strange but try sugar for a hand cleaner. with just plane water or u can add a few drops of dish soap. Works better than any industrial scrub i have ever tried. put one of the powder soap dispensers next to the shop sink and just fill it with sugar. besides being way cheaper its supper easy on the hands with no chemicals.

@@rushinarma863 Yes! My mother has this scrub stuff that smells like strawberries and I tried it on a whim once. It works REALLY good. Its also delicious (I mean..better than some jams Ive had! It does have sand..so...yeah, not good). Sugar and salt are great abrasive hand cleaners, although I wont lie. I still use gasoline to wash my hands from gunky stuff, RTVs and so on. But I also maybe somewhat kinda stopped caring about my body lol.

First off, I totally applaud your decision about "shorts". They're everything I hate about how low people's attention spans are getting. If it's interesting then a minute is a ridiculous amount of time to spend on something. You're just thinking "Hey, this is fascina..." and it bloody stops! What's the point? They leave you up in the air growling! Second, I didn't hear the traffic at all. It seems it's much louder to you than it is us. Don't worry about it & it's definitely no reason to stop & start again. Just keep filming. It'll save you time with no loss of quality. Ye Third, it's a "Yes!" to the "Tool Talk". Loved it. You have a wealth of valuable experience & what to you seems obvious, day to day stuff is experience worth sharing. For instance, I've been fixing my own vehicles for years & I didn't know about radiator hose hooks/picks until I saw you use one. All that cursing under the bonnet I've done. Skinning my knuckles & buggering up hoses trying to get ancient jubilee clips off is now a thing of the past. And last but not least, thanks Wes! I appreciate the time you make for us & the knowledge you share. This is one channel free of the hype. It feels more like popping in to see a mate in his garage & passing the spanners & coffee to him while you chat. 🔧☕🔩☕🔨🍔🛠️🚙🏍️🚚🚛

Nice to see content on tooling that is not specifically catered around plugging promoted products. All hand de greasers I have used, have messed my hands up in a bad way, especially the ones with a grinding compound in the bottom. I find the best solution is to find work in the medical industry, I don't even use gloves now, and hand washing is mostly to protect the product from being compromised.

Hey Wes...love your videos [short or long]. Didn't hear any road noise. Let's talk hand cleaners....I'm 67 and have worked in machine shops, welding and mechanics. Are you old enough to remember that?
@terryharvey48113 жыл бұрын
I do. And I've used it since the early 70's. Cleans great, easy on the hands, and smells good too. Back then, GOJO was the in thing for mechanics, but it was expensive. House brand dish soap 97 cents per GALLON. Every time I used GOJO, I still felt like I needed to wash my hands in soap and water to git rid of the GOJO.

I have two of those Maxeon-type lights - love 'em. I usually try to stick them on a vertical surface so that the base isn't in the way however I rotate them. The magnet is amazing - twice now I've forgotten and left them under truck. Both times I ran the truck through a carwash and then went on a road trip. One of those trips was down a serious 4WD trail, and I mean 4 low and crawling over boulders all the way down. After an 80 mile return trip I suddenly remembered the light. It was still there - dead because I'd left it on. Recharged it and it never skipped a beat. I was astonished. Can't say enough good things about those lights. I leave one in the house and one in the shop.

If you produce the video, I'll watch it. If it's short that's okay, if it's long that's great, if I don't have the time to watch 30, 45 or 90min video all at once I know how to save and finish later. If you want to break it into part one, two and three that's okay too, your content is great no matter what. I love it when you personalize your videos with with your family and dog, that's extra special. This favorite tool video was good, I'm a home DIY guy and like seeing what a professional uses. Our taste in quality is the same good tools last a long time even when abused outside their intended use and you don't always have to pay high dollars to get quality. I agree with your orange goop hand cleaner, getting the water less slim off your hands with the old standard is a pain, our fathers didn't have the choices we have today. I will try the RED cleaner, this is one area that you don't want to cut corners on, thanks for the tip. As far as the road noise goes I agree it's a pain, I would really appreciate it if you would pack up and move to a better location, perhaps a couple hundred yards into that corn field maybe or better yet to my town, smart honest mechanics are hard to come by. Best idea would be to get a few dozen acres, build a custom climate controlled building with enclosed parking area for all your vehicles, projects and customers cars. Also consider a 2 or 3000 sq ft outside slab and driveway that is heated during the winter so I don't have to look at snow or an icy drive way as snow and ice is a bit of a trigger item for me as I live in cold and mostly rust free southern California. Thanks for all your hard work and sharing it with the online community! BTW . My area is not completely cold free, last winter it got so cold I had to put a towel over my shoulders when I got out of the pool, it got so cold I had to close my bedroom window, half way. Love ya man!

I suspect people watching car repair videos aren’t going to care for the “shorts”. We want to see the whole diagnostic process and the actual repair. I realize that doesn’t make life easy on the creator. It seems most of the popular car repair channels are down to showing just the diag and highlights of the repair which is unfortunate. If you go back to early South Main Auto videos, Eric O would have multipart videos of entire engine removals and it was awesome. Ivan has most of the diag done before turning on the camera and POOF the car is fixed. You have always had a good mix of both. Keep up the good work!
