Glad to see someone doing this. This is tremendously helpful. But my '92 GTI is a CE2 and has the hazard switch in the dash. And I can confirm that it wasn't spliced in because I've had the dash and harness out, and there are no splices. I'm in America, so it may be different.

Yes sorry, we should point out - USA looms are a weird bunch of their own, we have no experience with them so we aren’t sure on that one!

I have a 91 TD so its ce2 also doing a ahu swap, so all i need is to unplug F,G1 and G2 from fuesbox and plug in the same from g3 to Run the engine?

That should be the gist of it, you may also need to double check power to the ECU and also depending on your immobiliser setup you may need to put a switched live to the fuel cut off solenoid!

@@427Motorsports ok i have plugged E,F,G1 and G2, immo box and obd2 plug, i have no power to immo box or obd it starts and dies witch is immo not working, do u maybe have a guide how to fix this?

Im really enjoying your videos mate! When will you be doin the pd swap? Will that be in a mk2 golf as well? I just picked up a 85 golf 1.6 diesel and have a bew tdi I plan on swapping eventually.

Nope only if you go for a PD conversion - the standard Mk2 tank is fine for an AHU/1Z!

uuuhm i have a 1990 MK2 CE2 1.3 NZ what electrical things will i need ? cuz im getting scared because noone is 1.9TD swapping into CE2 golfs, thanks.

Electrical swapping is easy enough in your case - all you need is the engine loom and it will plug right in to your car :) you do need to do two bits of fettling - you need to change the loom to make the reverse lights work, and to have power for your fuel cut off solenoid, but other than that it’s plug and play!

@@427Motorsports ooh ok thanks a mk3 golf is a good donor right? im thinking 1.9td (AAZ)because ive read it has less electronics or is a 1.9tdi a better swap? thinking of doing the swap next spring hoping ill get the garage done by then.

1.9TD if you can find one would be an easy and perfect swap. Even better if you can find a full car - because you’ll need the shifter if you plan to use its gearbox, and you’ll also need its subframe and drives as your 1.3 will have what’s known as a “small block”, and those parts aren’t cross compatible. :)

A TD wouldn’t be so bad... we can only imagine how dire a straight diesel automatic would be.
