It is! I'm not a fan of watching concerts, typically, but I remember when I looked it up on KZbin and binged that whole concert in the middle of the night. I was riveted!! So fun to watch! Some songs I even prefer live vs their studio album version. (Backup vocals killing it!) Talking Heads will always have a special place in my heart.

I discovered the Talking Heads when I was in college. I heard music like I had never heard before walking past Mikey’s room. Went in and listened to the whole Remain in the light album. A couple of years later I broke off my engagement with my High School sweetheart and came to grips with my sexuality after listening to ‘Once in a lifetime’ about 100 times. I decided I wasn’t going to go though my life and wake up one day and have to say to myself, “My God what have a I done”. Now at 60 I can say that this changed the course of my life. I saw the “Stop Making Sense concert love at the Greek in LA in 1983 and it is to this days one of my favorite concerts. They may not be everyone’s cup,of tea but they will always be one of my favorites.

David Byrne has said he got the idea for the song from watching the club kids in NYC and comparing them to what people go through in war torn parts of the world. Mudd Club and CBGB (no longer in existence) were clubs where Talking Heads played.

India you are freaking brilliant. Cute too. I agree with your analysis of running. The song came to being when Talking Heads were playing at a popular NYC club. Notice the stage - you don't see a single amp anywhere and all the lights are white. Both highly unusual at a rock concert. One of the greatest funk masters ever, Bernie Worell, is on synthesizers. Every band member wears simple plain solid colored clothing.

They also covered up the brand names on the keyboards and other instruments. David Byrne pretty much set up the production design for the Stop Making Sense concert movie. He said he wanted the movie to focus on the performances, so the viewer would feel more like they were there, which is also why there were almost no shots of the audience until near the end. I saw this in a theater when it first came out, and there was a warning posted at the ticket booth: "concert level audio." (It was damn loud! But in a good way.)

Yes that concert film is one of the best ever made, covers all their hits and their cover of 'Take Me to the River' is brilliant too (an Al Green song, I hope you know his music). There are only 4 members in the band, the rest are there for the tour/film to reproduce the sound of the albums.

Great reaction @IndiaReacts! Talking Heads were definitely a unique and energetic band. Eclectic, quirky, high energy college "art band" who had their own niche in the 80s new wave scene. In the 80s, aerobics/ aerobic dancing was a good way to engage the audience and inspire everyone to join in. If you watch their concert film, Stop Making Sense, you'll see just how they use "motion to create emotion". Good singers know how important that is to their performance. Check out their songs "Burning Down the House", "My Girlfriend is Better", "Once in a Lifetime"... You'll be amazed!
