This song reminds me of an older friend that passed several years ago. He used to play this album when we worked together. For a long time after he passed, I kept thinking that I’d seen him on the street. Somebody wearing his cap, walking like him, or the back of a slightly balding head. I’d have recurring dreams about him coming back. I listen to this song occasionally and it brings back all the fond memories of him. Miss you, Chris.

For those unaware of the heavyweight Funk connections here - Alex Weir (guitar) was originally from The Brothers Johnson, Bernie Worrell (synthesizer) is from Parliament / Funkadelic as was Lynn Mabry (backing vocals) who was one of the Brides of Dr. Funkenstein, Ednah Holt (backing vocals, also seen in the home video footage they're watching) was a star in her own right and originally a member of a group called Fonzi that included a young Luther Vandross, Steve Scales (percussion) played with Nona Hendryx after she left Labelle and also played in Tina Turner's touring band.

I have friends who are getting married and those who are having children. I’m so conflicted about the things I want but am not ready for. I don’t even have a lover who truly understands me. Home, is where I want to be But I guess I'm already there I come home, she lifted up her wings Guess that this must be the place I can't tell one from another Did I find you, or you find me? There was a time before we were born If someone asks, this where I'll be where I'll be Hi yo we drift in and out Hi yo sing into my mouth Out of all those kinds of people You got a face with a view I'm just an animal looking for a home Share the same space for a minute or two And you love me till my heart stops Love me till I'm dead Eyes that light up, eyes look through you Cover up the blank spots Hit me on the head ah ooh

WNKU 89.7 used to be an awesome station in Northern Kentucky that played a huge variety of music and played a ton of local talent. In the summer of 2017 NKU sold the station to a big Christian radio station. They had a ton of fans and it was a huge shame they were sold off like that. I remember I was coming back from a camping trip on the day of their last broadcast, I knew what time they were signing off but was still a couple hours from the area. I drove way too fast trying to get the radio signal. I barely got in range and the DJ chose this song as their last song. It was the first time I heard it and there was a lot of static because I was barely getting the signal. They stopped broadcasting right after the song stopped and was replaced by some Christian country song. Since then I have listened to this song hundreds of times now. Miss you WNKU, the greater Cinci area didn’t deserve you.

I used to listen to that station when I had to make regular road trips to southern Ohio about a decade ago. I knew the exact place on the interstate where I could usually start to pick up the signal. Sad to hear it's gone, and sad to hear what replaced it.

My favorite Talking Heads song since I was a teenager in the 90s all into the 80s stuff. I finally got to see this live when David Byrne toured in 2018. I cried, it was so beautiful.

The Talking Heads is one of my favorite bands of all time!! Nothing quite like a bunch of people just stimming and vibing together. Truly a group of people who found their “tribe.” I want that for myself more than anything. Just putting it ✨out there✨

Dec 30th 1991, This was the 1st song played by Lin Brehmer, new morning host on WXRT Chicago all of those years ago! He was the epitome of the "Chicago" city life style, music aficionado and a real Gentleman! Taken by cancer at only 68 years old... 1/22/23 R.I.P. Lin! Maybe pretty much a Chicago thing but I'll personally think of all of the years I listened to his radio show every time I hear this song.
@edbacnyc6 ай бұрын
Oh No! Lin is gone?! He was *MY* DJ in Albany NY in the early 80's. The Reverend of Rock and Roll. Had the 9:02 Unusual Moment every Wednesday night. I left for college in August and by Columbus Day when I came home, he had left. I only knew he was in Chicago 'cause of the internet all these years later. I thought he was still spinning. All hail Lin. One of the best.

@@danceswithcomicbooks7733 Is there any reason you're being so confrontational with people?
@danceswithcomicbooks77332 жыл бұрын
@@saltyscoundrel4368 just tired of people acting like the 80s are so great now when these same people bitched about the 80s and would say things Ike the 1950s were cool and they wished they lived in that decade because the 80s weren't as good. Now these same people are nostalgic about the days they used to say sucked and now are pushing it on their kids. Just let your kids discover and enjoy their time. Geez
@saltyscoundrel43682 жыл бұрын
@@danceswithcomicbooks7733 Fair enough, I apologise if I myself sounded confrontational. While I partially agree with what your saying, we shouldn't ram old music down peoples' throats, a little nudge in that direction can sometimes be the best thing to happen to you. It's like when parents get their kids to try different foods, personally I am so grateful to be saved from the awful modern "music" mess that has come about, and it wasn't forced on me, merely suggested.
@danceswithcomicbooks77332 жыл бұрын
@@saltyscoundrel4368 the thing is my dad and mom let me discover things on my own. They didn't push their childhood music or movies on me. So I was able to enjoy things I grew up with and also look back at old stuff if I wished. It's It's terrible things when parents today push their childhood stuff on their kids and say that modern stuff is crap. Kids don't think that way. They want to be separate from their parents as teens and want to figure some stuff out on their own. If they decide to look back at classic stuff their parents liked they will. Today's helicopter parents are way too involved. Let them discover some entertainment on their own from their generation because that's the stuff they'll reminisce with their peers in 30 or 40 years not some music that will be 80 years old by then.
