I saw this band. They were sl so happy to be up there playing. The vibe was so positive. I had heard the Fear of Music tour was much more dark. I thought Belew'd lines came from a synth until I noticed they corresponded to this guitar player's fingers. I asked ,', who is that? : My friend said Adrian Belew

What I realize watching this just after Stop Making Sense is that David is doing all the rhythm parts while Adrian does the lead here, but for Stop Making Sense, David does the lead while Alex does the rhythm. Songs like Cities, Crosseyed and Painless, Making Flippy Floppy prove this. All this to say, wow David Bryne is such a slept on guitarist

When live performances were about delivering great, honest and true music, with skill and soul. It should be about the MUSIC, not just the looks. I am glad I was born in the mid sixties and had the privilege of seing all those great acts in their prime.

Adrian Belew should be inducted into the R n R H. o. F. in the sideman category Frank Zappa, Talking Heads, David Bowie, Paul Simon. King Crimson & NiN are a few bands who had releases Ade figures prominently on...

While I fully appreciate KC and recognize both their collective brilliance and how significant their influence was and continues to be, I somehow never got "into" their sound, a cpl tracks aside. In any event, I fully take you word for it )That AB found his true calling (I noticed you capitalized it, so is "True Calling" a KC track?) with KC.

There is something so wonderfully "strange-perfect" about Tina's bass playing in "Animals". Just goes to show you don't have to be a technical virtuoso to be a virtuoso of style, taste, texture, etc. Incredible music!

Brandon Barker if you haven't already, check out the Rome concert on YT, and the 2nd LP in the "The Name of This Band Is" double live LP....this was the best lineup, doing a lot of the Remain in Light songs, Adrian Belew's presence on guitar is special.

I interviewed Adrian for Drum! magazine after he played electronic drums on the fourth King Crimson album and he was such a cool, down to earth guy. He had just produced the christian rock album for Jars of Clay that was the biggest seller in that genre at the time... i mean, what hasn't this guy done!??
@windmasterfluke3 жыл бұрын
So King Crimson's 4th album was 'Islands' in the early 70's. As far as i know he didn't join the band until 'Discipline' in the early 80's . I;m not trolling you or anything just trying to figure out which record you meant as I didn't know he played electronic drums on their records. The 4th King Crimson Record he was on, not counting live was 'Thrak' and I don't see him doing drums on that one. Anyways, if you are still around, hopefully you can tell me which record. Cool that you got to meet him and interview him. He's one of my fav musicians. I also have a lot of old drum magazines I should go back through. Thanks
