I will greatly miss Mike Mangini at DT. To me, Mike Mangini and DT were a match made in heaven. Mike Mangini is a true man of honor and I will always enjoy hearing his drums and amazing visionary drumming

Mangini did a great job with DT. I always saw him as the capable guy who could play anything with anyone. In regards to his departure from DT, I think he was very limited in terms of composition and production. I’m looking forward to seeing more of his solo work!

DT let him go. They wanted Portnoy back. The first line of MM's statement is very telling: 'I understand Dream Theater’s decision to get Mike Portnoy back at this time.'

Yes I believe so, as his manager told them specifically not to ask any questions at all about DT

I had heard a podcast where the host was stating that the record was going to pull support from them because their albums supposedly were not selling as well. I think that getting Portnoy back will be a popularity and money boost. I do not think for a minute that as good as Portnoy is, he is just not capable of replicating Mangini’s parts.
