Niall Ó Donnghaile

In a sometimes heated exchange Niall makes the case for the need for an Irish Language Act in the Six Counties and challenges the ridiculous assertions from the Fianna Fáil representative that rights & equality issues should be "parked" and that the monumental scandal of RHI is only a "smokescreen".

N.irish Nationalist were consigned to "limbo"-land: with the signing of the "treaty" back in 1921, resulting in the establishmentof the 26 county Irish Free State and the 6 county Northern Ireland statelet.

feelings don't even come into it. It's a Historical Fact. Irish is the culture and heritage of the isle of Éire or did you 'feel' it was Kazakhstan?

While canvassing for Sinn Fein some years ago we came upon Vincent Brown and a TV3 camera crew. I greeted Vincent in basic Irish, asked him how he was and was he coming along on the campaign trail with us. He was struck dumb (first time ever). He couldn't undersand a word I said. He just grinned at me so he's not as smart as thinks he is.

The people of Ireland want to learn how to speak their national tongue. Offered free, Irish lessons would be swamped by enthusiasm. Irish people should have to pay to learn their language.

@@OhEidirsceoil Do you know anyone who is in the habit of misspelling their own first and last name? I do. It's usually certain Irish people born with anglicised names who later 'revert' to the native Irish/Gaelic language forms in an effort to bolster their sense of identity, although some Americans and British of Irish descent do it too, to show off just how fíor-ghael they are. Just as there is a major difference in meaning between the word Éire ['Ireland'] and eire ['burden'], there is a difference between Críostóir Ó hEidirsceóil and you, Mr. Criostoir O'hEidirsceoil [sic].
