I'm so happy I could be apart of this video. It was such a beautiful experience and I know this will be great for anyone who is trying to transition into a new job. I'm sending you my résumé .

What Dontae said about carving out or shaping your own method of working within the framework of your company really sparks with me. I've been with my dispatch company much longer than most but primarily because I've shaped my own work environment and built good relationships within my various places of work. I love teaching and will probably continue for the forseeable future.

That’s really the key to happiness within this business. I don’t know how people can survive otherwise- or maybe people can only survive otherwise. I’d rather focus on thriving than surviving.

Real talk. Especially the point in the first half about knowing your boundaries and setting those limits for yourselves. Better take note! (Good job making that point.) On another note: Thank you so much for bringing us OG Japan Expats up-to-date on how Japanese companies have changed over the past decades.

Thank you. I think that we often are taught to be flexible, but that has its limits. The company culture is evolving and not in a good way for the most part. I hope that there is a return to caring about the worker as Japan continues to deal with the birthrate issue. Most people connect corporate culture, pay, and lack of resources to that problem, so there is a chance, but I won't hold my breath.
