This was amazing! Puppetry is just so underrated! It seems like a blast to design and create puppets! Puppets need to make more of a comeback! I did hear through the grapevine, that Ryan Reynolds is even trying to move forward with an ALF reboot!

Wow this was really interesting! Usually i have a hard time watching hour long videos all the way through but not with this one! Crude spin-offs of shows have been happening forever. I think that as people grow up and look at the characters from their childhood, the innocence that the character had at the time is unappealing. The playful “babyish” version is unrealistic. People like watching the spin-offs because it’s shocking. Personally i like the original version because it’s nostalgic. It was a great video💕

Seeing the guy who did the Gromit mug videos and owns a Premium made unofficial Kermit puppet meeting the person who I might inspire and used his guides to make the puppets from my friendly neighbourhood some day is mind blowing

In the 1984 documentary " Henson's Place ", Jim Henson mentioned that the characters will continue just as long as the audience wants them too. It seems like Jim wanted to sell to Disney ( 1989 - 1990 ) not only because with their budget, he would have more creative freedom but also that The Muppets could continue after his death just as much as the Disney characters did after Walt Disney's death in 1966. Jim died while the deal was wrapping up. I recommend the books Jim Henson : The Biography by Brian Jay Jones as well as Street Gang by Michael Davis for further details on that history. Without getting into " the Kermit Muppet Performer replacement controversy " specifically, generally speaking on the history, the passing of Jim Henson was difficult and the challenge was how to continue while maintaining the quality that he would like if he was still alive. With that perception, it's difficult not to get political ( aka "What would Jim .... ? ). Similarly, when it comes to the topic of reboots / fan-fiction / original. Perhaps it's fair to say, art is subjective. Is it a tribute to the original artists or is it what fans what to see ? For example, Frank Oz prefers The Muppets the way they used to be while most Muppet fans seem to enjoy the new stuff ( according to what I've noticed and observed from the fandom ). Same with any fandom, if it's the artists and or even fans who much prefer things to be close to the original as possible or artists and or fans who are open minded. As for fan-made / KZbin video stuff, that too can be subjective. Is that legally considered a parody ? I'm not a lawyer but all I can say is when it comes to the internet, there are those who are serious about art and their love of art fandom and those who aren't as much. To summarize, it's all subjective and depends on the opinion of the individual I suppose. In my opinion, I much prefer the original Jim Henson era and 1990s Jim Henson Productions era for the most part.

Yeah definitely, you can judge which era something was filmed in from the actors, but the Muppets themselves remain timeless as Adam pointed out!

It would be an honor to meet adam, but yeah im just a sad lonely puppeteer with me and my puppets. Also one of the best puppeteers in the world lives like 30 minutes away from me, his father has created an entire little theme park with the main attraction: a puppet theatre, and his father has created over 1000 puppets. Maybe even 2000? Or even more!
