He was purchased for $250,000 at the OBS March Sale 2024 by his current trainer, Hideyuki Mori. His performance during the training sale was also impressive, recording a time of 9.4 seconds, which tied for the second-fastest among the horses that ran a furlong. On debut at Niigata Racecourse on August 17, Ecoro Sieg’s overwhelming speed allowed him to take the lead, and he pulled away to win by five lengths. The winning time of 1:08.09 was just 0.2 seconds shy of the two-year-old course record. Just a month later, he smashed the course record set by Saga Novel in 2001 by 0.6 seconds, and simultaneously surpassed the national record for two-year-olds set by Freed in 2020 by 0.3 seconds. On the same card a four-year-old horse won an allowance race in the same time, making Ecoro Sieg’s performance as a two-year-old comparable to that of older horses. The race in which Saga Novel set the original Nakayama record was the G3 Fairy Stakes in December 2001, and she went on to win the G3 Crystal Cup in March of the following year. She was known as a fast filly, even challenging the G1 Sprinters Stakes as a three-year-old. “He has good speed,” said Lemaire, who praised not only Ecoro Sieg’s raw talent, but the colt’s race sense. “It wasn’t an over-paced race; he was able to run at his own pace. I believe he has great ability.”The next target is the Breeders’ Cup in the United States. The goal is to compete in the G1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint over 1000 meters on November 1.

Cot price is appalling value! I would absolutely love him to do it, but hes at a SERIOUS disadvantage before the race even starts nevermind if will handle the track or not, my very amateur opinion is he won't handle it and finish mid division pushing him up to the front early and wasting so much petrol will have a negative impact when they come into the straight. American dirt horses are specifically bread for dirt they race on dirt almost exclusively and train on it in the American weather day in and day out, fierceness or highland falls will win.

Galileo a good example of a horse who flopped on the dirt... that being said though he's out of Justify and just because COT hasn't raced on the dirt, doesn't mean he couldn't handle it. But he'll have to be ridden forward, I don't think he comes from off the pace and does it, will need to be exactly like the York run

City of Troy is a terrible price, but that may have something to do with the fact it isn’t a vintage Classic. He’d be long odds on to beat this field on turf, so he may be good enough provided he handled the dirt. It’s essential he breaks well & gets a decent position, then it’s game on.

The case of the banned Irish jockey ridding in the UK in yet another demonstration of the ineptitude of racing authorities. Surely there should be a central data base, certainly between France, UK, and Ireland, with a data base of licensed jockeys. If they are banned you can't declare them, as their licence has been suspended. The same with their claim, automatically tally up winners as they ride them and the system adds the claim. If the British Cattle Movement Service can deal with all the cattle passports surely this can easily be set up. It's very poor by the licencing bodies.

@@lukemichael7772 they really don't. Coolmore benefited from 40 years of tax exceptions and they hold a monopoly on Irish breeding. The Arc Is the proving race in Europe he's often failed in that race. He's not doing much by coming here and winning turf races because we don't breed turf horses.

City of Troy is very sensitive and dosnt necessarily travel well, so he may have the race lost in the starting stalls which hecwont enjoy either. But his action suits dirt if the rain keeps off. I hope he dosnt suffer injury in the race or on the trip. Its something Coolmore need to do to find out how far they need to progress to be as competitive in the US market as they are in Europe.

these guys and the comments on here are under-estimating the BC Classic field. This is a loaded field, and any one of 7-8 horses can honestly win it. If they ever get the timing right of his run, Sierra Leone looms dangerous. He was bred for this race. He's never run a bad race. If they just get him going earlier, he'll be right there, probably with Forever Young again.
