I think people are underrating TB Letang. He is the best RHD in the game that isn't a fantasy card and the only 89 TB that is worth trading in Koivu and Gartner. I think the point you made in early HUT about defense being the most important in this game still stands, it was just easier to gloss over when every event released a good defenseman that could be made for "free" and CA Makar is still a viable 1RHD. Letang is a real difference maker for those of us not lucky enough to have made Parayko. Also just want to drop a little hot take here below the fold: Stop putting cards into X-Factors! XF C Fox costs more to make than Gretzky! For the same amount of fodder or coins you could make charged McD or 99, 66, Orr, and Sundin and have the coins left over to buy 81+ cards for FF McD! It seriously doesn’t make sense unless you already have 3 captains or you have a KZbin channel and are making an ongoing series with McD as the goal. People ask about this every week in the comments and with the market collapsing it makes less sense by the day to work on McD.

I agree 110% on the xfactors. I realized this like a month back and actually just unlocked 66 and loving him. I missed out on the fantasy event at the beginning so will make 1-2 msps per event and have already planned on starting for my second power up halogram.

Yeah it felt like a total kick in the nuts. 3 days after I full sent for xf mcjesus they release a better stat version of the same card for a fraction of the cost. Fml. Ea did this last year when they had the draft mcdavid and mckinnon. Another nutpunch to their most dedicated player base

You can't hardly make a 3 ft pass without icon passing. When I try to hit the old polgz goal from behind net they never throw it to the wingers it always goes past them back to the defender.

The free zone ability is so important, some of those abilities are money and hard to put them against other overalls when it triggers a zone ability animation that the other card can't. Also it frees up more ap for the rest of the team.

Hey Sleeves, questions about synergies: I'm kind of an new player and just finally realized the process to activate synergies, by having players with enough of the same synergy icon to activate them for those players. My questions is, do you build your team to intentionally activate certain synergies, or do you just build a team based off attributes and whatever synergies activate is just a bonus?

@ it’s painful man. You can’t compete at a high level when it takes quick passes and quick reads that are delayed immensely. Was on a 2-1 down by 1 and my guys were all of a sudden in opposite corners and the play had been missed. Just difficult. I’ve actually enjoyed this game 100x more than recent years aside from the major bugs recently. As well as the god awful rivals 50/50 win rate. Some games you load in knowing 5 min in the game gas decided your guys will be slower this game and your goalie will be Swiss cheese. It’s noticeable when the game decides to tweak your ability to play

Hey Sleeves! Thanks for answering my question yesterday. Another lineup thing. Forgot to mention yesterday that I'm 2 icons away from Gretzky and 2 tbs away from making my 2nd 86. If I get Gretzky, should I run McDavid on the wing and then run Backstrom on my 2nd line? My lines would essentially be Mcdavid/Gretzky, Backstrom, Barkov, Hischier. Left wing would then become stacked as I can get my HT Couture to his 86 overall. Thanks again buddy. A funny tidbit, my daughter made me choose Seider and im happy with her choice! Just a comment, an underrated aspect that we found out about McDavid XF is that it looks like the charged and holo cards get free silver abilities too. That means all the holos will be greatly more valuable when they hit 89 and get a silver ability, presumably free like McD

I feel like there is a simple fix for the three foot pass BS. RB or R1 if tapped quickly should favour the short pass. For sauce a momentary hold would be needed for the saucer pass. The amount of times you are below the net and try to pass to an open low slot or back door and it sends it the point is forever frustrating. I feel that is a viable fix or maybe I’m wrong. I would terminate icon passing for icon player switching in a heartbeat.

Sleeves I’m gonna recommend you take the same advice you give us and definitely try practicing using circle to hit. We’re about the same age, I’ve been playing NHL since 2000, and have always used right stick since it’s been introduced. This year is the first year I started using circle to hit, being it’s the second year of using total controls, but right stick just does not work anymore. It’s way quicker to just hit circle once where it does the load AND hit compared to loading and hitting with right stick. Similar to your analogy with the button passing where your brain is making two separate processes of first reading who’s open then selecting the player. Lineup question barzal- milestone gretz (tradeable)- hughes 86 88 necas - koivu - kuch parayko - power montour - chara I have 4 86 tbs for sets, will be making backstrom as 1C, however every other choice is basically a behind another card, have 3/4 caps for mcdavid so hossa will be pushed down soon. Letang is behind parayko and hjammer will be behind hedman soon. (Doan... lol) Probably keeping koivu at 3C for now, so just wondering what would be best for 2nd option.

I wasn’t sure if u or anyone knew of what I know because it wasn’t there long into when the game dropped that they took them out of the search list in the market. But I always check the market abilities in the beginning of the year to see if there are any steals to get good cheap ability players early. But when I did search I found all the unposted new ones. Feels like I’m the only one who knows or if they never drop them I feel crazy but I really hope they do. I mentioned the abilities in my other comment on this video. There seems to be 6 of them

If they're the ones I remember seeing too, they aren't actual abilities, they were mistakenly showing the ones you get if theres a grudge match. So yeah it showed "new" ones, but they aren't actual upcoming abilities, just a mistake that they made when adding the grudge match ones in. I was confused at first too

for boost synergies look at who are locked spots on your team and build around that im locked in power shooting as 4 of my fantasy cards have it. 2 of those 4 also happen to have defensive boost. I would have loved to go with speed boost Also on icon passing i have hardly used it since it came back, just sort of forget it theres now but its so reliable on break outs. If incon passing helped make us better, i wouldnt be hard stuck div 3 for 2 years now Holos are super worth it this year, free abilities + eventual upgrades and 80s are stupid cheap. Following bagels advice im sitting on enough tokens for mcdavid +fox + kucherov + 2 holos

Hey Sleeves, gotta really weird issue. I made 89 TB Backstrom, I put him on my first line but when I play any type of game, he is substituted for the player on the 2nd line n Backstrom won’t be on any of my lines. I thought it was just a glitch last night after TBs first came out. I just tried again today, removed Backstrom from my lineup, saved, added him back, saved, played another game, same thing! I can’t use Backstrom, very frustrating. Has anyone else had something like this happen? Update - I had to make a new lineup from scratch, now I can use him, phew

The EA devs are really botching the card upgrades. Like you said, the teambuilders are good cards, but for the cost, they need to be great, and they are not great. Free abilities would mostly fix the issue, but when they are released, they should be the highest OVR and there's already a 90 ovr hedman in the game (granted only the extreme gamers have this already but they're out there...). Also, the other chase cards are being flat out ruined. The Gretzky and Lemieux cards are getting passed by regular MSPs and random drop cards, these chase cards should be upgraded and kept above the other cards or why the hell would anybody chase them and spend the assload of currency you need to spend to get them? Most of the hologram icons haven't even been upgraded at all - they were marketed/presented as chase cards but that was some pretty deceptive marketing if they are going to leave them behind current regular cards. At least they finally upgraded the kuch and nylander xfactors... They did a good job with the frozen forces event though, just a little love after the kick to the jibblets.

Don’t be like me and click auto fill on team builders i had 2 86’s and they put in 1 of the 86’s and 89’s Backstrom I was watching your stream and not making sure what I was doing. honestly makes no sense to me that it’s not just locked to 86’s, I went back to your TB video from Modano drop last year and it was only 87’s only in it. It’s completely my fault just not sure why EA did this wanted to mention this so every else knows it says 86+ not 86 like the 83’s say 83 not 83+. Costed me a lot of fodder but I had 5 86’s so it didn’t kill me to badly better it happen to me and not someone else.

Hey Sleeves, i’ve had the game for about 3 weeks and i feel there’s nothing for me to rn… i’ve done about every moments, wild card is done for the week, quests are also mostly done and i don’t find any other way to get XP except grinding Rivals and stuff Plus, i can’t make lots of sets because i don’t have an infinite amount of cards since i started playing not that long ago… What should I do from now on?

Took Hossa to compliment X Factor Nylander and Frozen forces Bedared along with gold coach that provides plus 3. This allowed me to activate pin point shooting boost no money spent.
