I get what Fate is saying and I actually know people who don't really care about modern fighters these days because of how, in their eyes, it became too "crazy" to keep up with. Fate is someone who comes from a time where MK2 and even UMK3 style gameplay was where they felt most comfortable. There were combos but they were quick and easy to remember and even doing things like uppercuts did big damage. These days in just about any long running fighting game you're required to know how to use these various mechanics/systems and pull off tons of combos that take what feels like ten seconds to play out. Guys like Fate are overwhelmed by it all and if they come from the classic era probably feel alienated by everything around them. They can't just do a Scorpion Spear into Uppercut to take off 30% of someone's life anymore, they have to learn ten hit combos and how to call in kameos and learn every character's frames and normals on top of the specials and amplified specials, etc.

My issue when it comes to gameplay is the weird block stun or what ever that is. When my opponent hits me with a minus attack it’s like my buttons get stuck, they don’t come out. Maybe it’s the timing but it throws me off quite a bit

Go into the lab and practice your reversal timing. That's fundamental to leveling up, practicing counter pokes, reversal Kameos, reversal armor in Gap's. Go through the characters moves that give you a hard time and find weaknesses like Gap's, bad reach you can walk back or backdash wiff punish, or being -8 to -30 on block or if it's duckable or if it's flawless block punishable or UpBlock PUNISHABLE. The vast majority of stuff in this game has counters. For example Kenshi with Sento does F22, Sento 2 over and over, it has a gap in both. Kenshi B2/B12 into any sento has gaps.

Stryker isn't a problem, I have multiple videos up on how to counter Stryker Grenades. Sub Zero is a great example, Sub's D2 trades with Nades and does 14% and Sub only takes 6% and Sub has 20+ frame advantage. Do that twice and Stryker on cooldown. The Stryker player has to gap the Nades after their string for it to OS, meaning it has to be timed after to do a launch when your string into Nades hits, + on block if string and Nades is blocked. It only works that way on a specific timing. They can frame trap so it can't be D2'd but it loses it's strength it's ability to launch. Kung Lao hat used as HTB is also counterable with Kameos Ambush like Scorpion Kameo Flame, they Set hat and go right into overhead for HTB. You call Scorpion flame right where Lao Hat is set and it knocks the Lao Hat off screen for less than 4% damage taken and let's you Upblock punish the overhead. Doesn't matter if they do overhead to low or low to overhead timing with the overhead it removes the HTB mix completely. You can also counter Lao hat on reaction with Sub Zero Kameo or Khameleon Jade Glow and do the same thing. They have to space the overhead and low 4 frames apart because there is HTB Protection that auto blocks 1-3 Frame HTB's

Sik isnt arguing that the game isnt broken though, he knows that we all know that. Fates problem, and siks argument is that the gameplay and its mechanics are good but obviously needs tweaks and he’s said that multiple times. On the other hand fate believes the game play and mechanics even if they weren’t buggy are bad and thats not the case its almost universally agreed that GAMEPLAY WISE this is one of the best mortal kombat games in that aspect. Fate simply isnt having fun with the gameplay and thinks its bad because he cant play it and he sucks and refuses to learn. Yo, you don't have to UPBLOCK the attack if you're crouch blocking. You just have to STAND to block the overhead. You don't have to use upblock lmao. I'm watching this back and I really wish I was on call with you LOL. I both see what your saying and what he's saying and I'm also noticing that when he is explaining his opinions on his issues with the combat system defensive wise from what I'm hearing he's saying that he has a issue with the fact that it takes three bars to do a breaker and because of how long you can be caught up in a combo it should take less then three bars to get out of it plus that same meter you use to get out of a combo you use as a special enhancer. So to fix his issue with that is to either have a separate meter for the breaker or to make it require less which he said in the video to break out of the combos but from what I was hearing him say having a separate meter wouldn't be enough because he would along with others would still complain about it taking all three bars to break out of combos. Content wise outside of online yeah of course they could have added more along with content that would be included online like for starters a mode without Kameos or a tag mode instead of Kameos to where you can switch between two characters and use a assist from your other character your not using at the moment and be able to do longer combos which of course the game already has it built in to be able to break out of combos if you really needed to. I didn't say what you where saying because you know what you where saying 100% and you wasn't wrong. People might misinterpret what your saying as a harsh opinion but your not wrong realistically having these issues is a skill issue. If your dealing with these issues in the game from what I been seeing from you and others that you need to take the time to learn and most of the time what your doing wrong in the game to get better at it. If your going to complain about you having issues with others doing longer combos to you then you can do them then you need to take the time and learn how to do them yourself and learn how to avoid getting hit by them. At times it's going to take you learning all aspects of the offensive and defensive system to do that. This doesn't just apply in Mortal Kombat 1 this applies in many others and many others don't have a way to break out of combos in the air the way Mortal Kombat does.

The reason why people "spam" combos and never use meter at lower levels is because these players doesn't know frame data so they ramdomly press buttons or use unsafe moves so they'll get punished. On higher levels it's hard to open your opponent's defense so it's not the same type of game. If fate at least tried to learn fighting games on a technical level and understand frame data he would understand (maybe) why he gets comboed constantly.

Although fate is cringe and wrong, i think i agree with his biggest issue with the game, its so easy and so entry level to do half health combos in this game. It used to take skill and execution even in mk11 to do high damage combos, in this game I can legit get to minimum 40 my first practice sesh with any character, it used to take time and dedication to earn high damage combos on command. In mk11 I had to work for 40 with noob, the opener had to fully connect, you gotta time dashes, stuff was tight. sub zero didn't get 40 without a Kb or being in the corner. mkx is the same, you had to actually practice a good combo to land it on someone online; now you can pick any character with any kameo and freestyle for half a health bar.

That's a flat out lie. MK11 you can get a 23% damage just for uppercutting. You don't have to work in any way to get damage in MK11. That game is stupidly easy. All fighters are making it easy to do combos, especially Tekken (T7 and T8 specifically).

Grandmasters should have no comment on such things. He's complaining about combos because thats literally all grandmasters know how to do. Thats it. They have no defense. They have no strategy. They memorized 3 or 4 fairly large combos, and thats all they do! And he's stuck in that because he's a grandmaster! I hate getting matches with grandmasters, because if they fluke it, I lose twice as much exp. They're literally the most annoying class in Kombat League, because they know just enough to cause real damage if they want to, but not enough to make for an interesting or compelling match. They spam combos. That's it. He is stuck fighting scrubs, so he hates the game. I honestly feel that way about many people who hate MK1. They never found their stride. Its fun AF when you're a God. You see all kinds of wild stuff when you're legit at the game. These people complaining about it aren't that good. Literally.

when it comes to 3 bar combo breaker i know you build bar quickly but it costs the defender all thier meter to stop a combo that but combos in this game dont use all resources to net the maximum damage if that were the case that would make sense to me, combo damage scaling definitely needs looking at in this game because its inconsistent, a combo that uses 3 bars and fatal blow should be the only combos that exceed 50 percent damage.

@@krushingbro6620 Accurate response. If you think that you need to use 3 bars and FB to hit 50%, nobody would ever die. Look at how long one combo takes to do 50% now while just using one bar, one cameo, no FB. Like 15 seconds. For how you want it, that would be like a 17% combo. A 17% combo for like 40 hits. That's objectively stupid. Plus, the reason Combo breaker is 2 bars instead of 3 like it has been is because you can combo break the FB. You haven't been able to do that before. Think about it for 3 seconds and you will realize that what you said, was just a dumb comment.
