Green arrows pointing up on your map means the avatars are above you, probably in a skybox or some other level. Someone probably already commented this but hey, it's information you should know :)

@@ObscureNerdVR In my sl experience, ppl will talk more on mic in private groups. It requires building relationships over time. So more of a commitment.

you can see if there are people around you by clicking on your friends list > nearby there is a distance column and you can right click name > teleport to in most regions.

When u goto a parcel where there are a lot of ppl but not seeing them, cause they are probably way up in the air on another platform or way below depending the area u teleported to.

I still have a feeling you need someone who takes you to the active places ☺️ it’s true, not every place appreciates voice, but there are many, really active places to hang out. And most with really nice people. Also, small hint on that: when you have your mini map open and see the green dots, when they’re a circle, then they’re not too far from you/same level, when an arrow points up, then they’re on another platform in the sky, if the arrow points down, then they’re somewhere on a place down from you 😉 ~ sometimes, when you right click on one of the green dots and give it “teleport to user”, you actually land right next to them. That is, if “teleport everywhere” is activated ☺️

You should try a sandbox or two. I loved hanging out in the Amsterdam sandbox. You have to remember time is different all over the world, so people hang out at different times.

You need to find the destinations button and it will show you what's hot. And there will be a lot of places where you'll find people. many places have dress codes though if you choose this option.

Lots of reasons for not doing voice in SL. Males playing females. Females playing males. Under 18 year olds. who are using their mothers id to be in there. People who are at work and don't want the boss knowing. Not everyone is alone in a room and able to talk. Female escorts will voice, if you pay them.

This was so bad if I remember rightly I was like 12- 13 with 26-40 yr old women stripping off on cam to me and a lot of weirdos that would try get you on camera plus there was no age conformation but tbh I was saying I was 17-18 , lol as much fun as this is it’s quite dangerous for kids in my opinion

I haven't used it since 2015. I think a good amount still do, but I've read that the user population has decreased a little.
