@@stephenl7048 Honestly, from the descriptions given of the Afterlife by the major religions, I don't know that it fundamentally changes the point in any way. Hell, without redemption, is just sadism. Heaven is just an even more insidious version of Hell, when you know there's good people burning down there and there's nothing you can do, as there is no redemption from that pointless eternal sadism - and the Biblically accurate description is eternal worship slavery to an insatiable ego. Nirvana is basically a synonym of oblivion - and it's longing to end the eternal torment to finally find a true restful death. Like, do any of these Afterlives sound like they negate the notion of being on a "Road to Nowhere"? None of this offers a conclusion. None of this offers any useful explanation. None of it invalidates that opening verse in the slightest. Life is suffering.

Sony got filthy rich enabling music piracy. Those Walkmans and recorders and blank tapes galore, and tape-to-tape duplicating machines so you could pass tapes to all your friends. Found myself at a point in life, having just gone through two years of financial struggle with a lack of any secure employment in the area and a lot of bad luck - In a relationship that was maybe functional for 2 years before becoming not so much dead but more undead for the other 3. Didn't have a car because of all of that, which further increased the difficulty of keeping up with adulthood. Started applying for jobs in a town that's an hour away because I had nothing to lose and my own city was totally dried up. Ended up somehow getting hired in a very cushy job in education, for which I have no background or qualifications beyond technical skills that are kinda rare for professionals working at a highschool and lower level. The workplace is very flexible and gave me plenty of room to figure out how to be working there from out of town, which involved a 2 hour bus commute both ways. Suddenly, I had smoldering garbage behind me, and a genuinely good salary with ample paid time off and full benefits ahead of me - All the while, the person who I was as a result of my experiences seemed undeserving and clueless of what to actually do with it. It was incredible fortune that dropped in my lap when I was barely trying after years of constant effort had left me emotionally exhausted and in debt. It was at this point that the Talking Heads became the soundtrack to my inner most feelings about life

Give a break. They are a BRILLIANT band. David Byrne is a literally genius who has gifted the world with his own quirky and unusual sense of humor, intelligence, wit, political awareness, concern about the World In General. They are really amazing and David himself is my favorite of course...but I never have had an opportunity to see The Heads or even David Byrne's solo concert live. I would love to see either, but just being with the kind of crowd that would come...in legion...to see The Talking Heads play just one reunion world tour for all the fans, would be a life-altering experience. SO many great bands I love and have never seen live: The Cure, Depeche Mode (MAYBE saw them one time, I have a faint memory), New Order, The Smiths, REM, The B-52's, Sting & Or The Police, The Rolling Stones, (can't afford the damn $500 tickets!), Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Doors, Jimi, Janis, Nirvana, only got to see U2 ONCE in concert and the audio was fucked up so Bono sounded like he was sucking helium all night. The Talking Heads...like The Violent Femmes, Sublime, (saw Garbage play with No Doubt once...GREAT show! There would be a million YOUNG people. That's how great this band is. Even teenagers would be there. This music is timeless.
