One day her husband was drunk, he was angry and he beat her to a pulp until eventually he pushed her down the stairs killing her. No one batted an eye. And yet people say alcohol isn't a problem.

Qur'an (38:44) - "And take in your hand a green branch and beat her with it, and do not break your oath..." Allah telling Job to beat his wife. From the Hadith: Bukhari (72:715) - A woman came to Muhammad and begged her to stop her husband from beating her. Her skin was bruised so badly that she it is described as being "greener" than the green veil she was wearing. Muhammad did not admonish her husband, but instead ordered her to return to him and submit to his sexual desires. Bukhari (72:715) - "Aisha said, 'I have not seen any woman suffering as much as the believing women'" This is Muhammad's own wife complaining of the abuse that the women of her religions suffer relative to other women. Muslim (4:2127) - Muhammad struck his favorite wife, Aisha, in the chest one evening when she left the house without his permission. Aisha narrates, "He struck me on the chest which caused me pain." Muslim (9:3506) - Muhammad's father-in-laws (Abu Bakr and Umar) amused him by slapping his wives (Aisha and Hafsa) for annoying him. According to the Hadith, the prophet of Islam laughed upon hearing this. Abu Dawud (2141) - "Iyas bin ‘Abd Allah bin Abi Dhubab reported the Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) as saying: Do not beat Allah’s handmaidens, but when ‘Umar came to the Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) and said: Women have become emboldened towards their husbands, he (the Prophet) gave permission to beat them." At first, Muhammad forbade men from beating their wives, but he rescinded this once it was reported that women were becoming emboldened toward their husbands. Beatings are sometimes necessary to keep women in their place. Abu Dawud (2142) - "The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: A man will not be asked as to why he beat his wife." Abu Dawud (2126) - "A man from the Ansar called Basrah said: 'I married a virgin woman in her veil. When I entered upon her, I found her pregnant. (I mentioned this to the Prophet).' The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: 'She will get the dower, for you made her vagina lawful for you. The child will be your slave. When she has begotten (a child), flog her'" A Muslim man thinks his is getting a virgin, then finds out she is pregnant. Muhammad tells him to treat the woman as a sex slave and then flog her after she has delivered the child. Ibn Ishaq/Hisham 969 - Requires that a married woman be "put in a separate room and beaten lightly" if she "act in a sexual manner toward others." According to the Hadith, this can be for an offense as petty as merely being alone with a man to whom she is not related. Kash-shaf (the revealer) of al-Zamkhshari (Vol. 1, p. 525) - [Muhammad said] "Hang up your scourge where your wife can see it"

I witnessed a chinese couple fight today n the husband was beating her up in front of people while she screamed in chinese. I couldn't understand what she was saying.. she could be swearing, or expressing her feelings or arguing.. I don't know..because I'm a malay muslim, but I felt so helpless. I couldn't sleep all night. Then I watched this video for th 2nd time.. it's like Allah giving me a little hidayah to visit ur page at 5am to keep my path straight. Did you forget that the best of you in character is? He who is best to his wife. The best of advice from the one who never harmed a servant, child or wife in his whole entire life. Muhammad (pbuh), He was the best of examples in how to treat a woman right. See, if his wife had cooked something, he had liked, he would eat it and if he didn't he would leave it, without expressing an ounce of dislike. He would even refuse an invitation to food, until his wife also received an invite. He would help around the house too, just to make her work load light. See, he was the pinnacle of being polite. And he taught us that the strongest of men is not he who knows how to fight, but rather he who restrains his anger right at the moment of strife. So have patience brother, I mean, you wouldn't allow violence for your own, mother, daughter or sister. You wouldn't bear to watch another man punch and kick her. So the next time you even think to cause your wife, trauma and hit her, you need to understand that she too is another man's mother, daughter or sister. So dear sister, No human being deserves to live a life of violence. So if he doesn't treat you with kindness, don't live in silence trying to fight this on your own.

I think it's really important that he specified that women need to reach out too rather than just seek guidance from Allah. Divorce is so discouraged in Islam that sometimes women will feel pressured into staying with an abusive man just to avoid it. By encouraging women to reach out, he is encouraging that it is okay to divorce an abusive partner. Even if it is the most hated by Allah of all lawful things, it is still lawful for a reason, especially for this reason.

If a woman and her children are subjected to domestic violence I would tell them to make a safety plan to leave, then RUN when it is finally safe and never look back and NEVER return to the abuser. Violence against women and children at the hands of the husband, partner, father or other family member has nothing to do with religion or non-religion. It has everything to do with power and control. It is the fault and dysfunction of the abuser only and unless they truly want to change their words mean nothing. Let them change without you. For an abuser to change they have to not only admit they have an issue, they must go through a total break down and reconstruction of the way they think, the way they believe, their whole character and personality must transform with professional help and sadly, most won't do it because they're overly egotistical and narcissistic. They believe they're in the right. Sadly, rarely if ever does an abuser change. Best to leave. God will only help someone who helps themselves.
