As Kevin says; Arresting the people smugglers is a waste of time and does NOTHING. We in Australia had a 'boat people' problem like this. Our former right-wing PM John Howard stopped it in 5 minutes. It was VERY VERY EASY. He sent our Navy to turn back the boats and return them to their place of origin. If they refused to go, our armed SAS soldiers were helicoptered onto the boats and then still took them back to the port of origin. A couple of times, the people on the boats scuttled them. Of course we did not leave the men, women and children on these boats to the sharks; we picked them up and then returned them back to the port of origin. The "people smugglers" were put out of business in literally FIVE MINUTES, as they no longer had anything to sell.
