You seem to forget that the pound plunged to $1.03 to the £ immediately following the budget in the Truss premiership and the Bank of England had to pump money in to stop any further falls. Sunak managed to get the £ back up again to around $1.28 and it is now around $1.25 - not yet a disaster. Had Truss stayed in power, mortgage rates would probably be over 10% today!! House prices are massively overpriced and out of reach for most people. Some terraced homes that were built as cheap places to live for factory workers cost a fortune .
