Neither are princesses by birth and on marriage took the titles Princess William of Wales and Princess Harry (Henry) of Wales respectively - just as Baroness Marie-Christine Anna Agnes Hedwig Ida von Reibnitztook the title Princess Michael of Kent on her marriage. William and Harry were of course additionally created Duke of Cambridge and Duke of Sussex on the day of their weddings - hence their wives became the Duchess of Cambridge and the Duchess of Sussex. William and Catherine were later elevated to the rank of The Prince and Princess of Wales when Charles became King. Diana was never Princess Diana either. The first 'the' is often dropped so Prince and Princess Henry, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex or simply The Duke and Duchess of Sussex. On her own Meghan would usually be addressed as 'The Duchess of Sussex'. If widowed or divorced she would be 'Meghan, Duchess of Sussex' because a new spouse for Harry or the spouse of Archie would be 'The Duchess of Sussex'. I think the problem for Meghan is the duo are no longer entitled to the status of HRH. We have 24 non royal dukes (and presumably duchesses) excluding Harry and 4 royal dukes excluding Harry (Gloucester, Kent, York and Edinburgh) in the UK.
