48 years ago I started "self inquiry". It got so I found myself already practicing as a I woke up in the morning. A self employed carpenter, I could practice all day. 2 days ago I got results. The only reason I stayed with it is that only while practicing did I feel alive. 2 days ago I got an organic feeling of the Oneness of all things.

Dear Davidji...I haven't even finished watching this video in full ....already feeling a bit teary eyed that I found this commentary....just two days ago I surrendered my job job search to God (unemployed for a while now) along with one other issue that I has caused me pain and sadness for 30 years....I have been putting the effort to find a job on a daily basis but leaving the fruits up to God...I hope I never to look back and follow up with the divine. Your style is so authentic and so easy to follow. While I have been reading eastern spiritual text for 15 years it is finally now I have started to make some progress. Very recently I started to read I AM THAT (100 pages in to it) and I all of sudden don't have anxiety/fear of the unknown (very out of character for me). Not only your talks bring out the optimism in me they also help solidify my resolve to attain my spiritual goal. Thank you! Jai Shri Krishna, Jai Shri Ram, Jai shri Ramana.

I AM AMAZED BY THE WAY HE EXPLAINS & DESCRIBES THINGS. HE IS MORE SPIRITUALLY INTELLIGENT & CLEAR THAN ANY TEACHER ON THIS SUBJECT I'VE EVER HEARD. RAMANA MAHARSHI TAUGHT NONDUALITY THROUGH SELF-ENQUIRY IN TWO WAYS. ONE WAS SELF ENQUIRY "WHO AM I?" THE OTHER WAS SELF SURRENDER (I WILL LISTEN TO HIS VERSION LATER I'M SURE IT'S GOOD) IN SELF ENQUIRY - IT SOUNDED SO COMPLICATED I LISTENED AGAIN & AGAIN & DIDN'T QUITE GET IT. THEN I TRIED IT. JUST THE WAY HE EXPLAINED. I THOUGHT ABOUT SOMETHING, THEN I ASKED, "WHO IS THINKING THESE THOUGHTS" & MY MIND CAME BACK TO ME - THE I RETURNED TO ITS SOURCE. WHEN IT RETURNED I REALIZED THERE WAS NO "ME" - MY THOUGHTS BELONGED TO A PERSONALITY THAT IS MANUFACTURED BY ME. ALL MY PERSONALITIES ARE ACTS, THEY ARE ASSUMED LIKE CHARACTERS IN A PLAY. JUST LIKE HE EXPLAINED. WE PROJECT THESE PERSONALITIES ONTO THE 'THEATER OF LIFE' - EACH PERSONALITY HAVING A SET OF THOUGHTS & FEELINGS - IT FEELS LIKE ITS REAL BUT IT ISN'T REAL IN AN ULTIMATE SENSE, IT'S A PLAY, A SORT OF 'PRETEND GAME.' WHO IS THE REAL ME? HE CALLS IT THE "SELF". IT'S THE SOURCE OF LIFE, THE GOD-SELF. THIS GOD SELF HAS NO 'PERSONALITY' OR FEELINGS SUCH AS WE HAVE ON EARTH. ONCE I DID THIS SELF ENQUIRY I SAW HOW INCREDIBLY EASY IT WAS.

@@zoharflax6363 I agree with Vicara Vitakka that your grandmother tried to teach you "not" to worry! Jesus on the cross: "My father, thy will, not mine, be done". Our little brain is so structured it has very limited power to comprehend ourselves and the universe, space and time. By surrendering to God(or SELF), you are allowing another unproportionately infinite power to flow through you and your world; you do not let that little ego get in the way of karma's big operation.
@gate-gate68635 жыл бұрын
@@vicaravitakka8332 I started to realize, longevity only buys time for us to work towards Self Realization. Once we realize SELF, there will no life or death. Even the great scientist Albert Einstein understand space and time are all illusions (but only intellectual understanding, not enlightened like Ramana Maharshi).

This is exactly how Alcoholics Anonymous works. First you turn your drinking over to God, then your defects of character, then your relationships, then your will and life. In the end you are left with a spiritual awakening. The 12th step reads, “Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to alcoholics, and to practice these principles in all our affairs”
@robsaunders56413 жыл бұрын
Yes! And this can keep going and going. Let go of absolutely everything. Then let go of the one letting go. Once you have given up all sensations, and even the self. What's left is the natural state and freedom. Probably not appropriate to share in a meeting though, lol.

I just love the salami approach of handing over our worries bit by bit. Yes it's like we are in the train which is anyways going in a particular direction (our Prarabhda) n here we're sitting with some 5 parcels of luggage on our lap. We can slowly put down one piece of luggage starting with the lighter ones n then realise that the luggage is safe and is anyways going to reach it's destination along with the train. So then we get more confidence and are willing to put down more of our luggage until we put down our final piece. Thank you David for this salami approach which further led me to extrapolate Bhagawan's theory of the man on the train with luggage on his lap. Hope I'm on the right track.
@vanglover60305 жыл бұрын
I like your analogy even more than the one given by David Godman. Why fuss with holding luggage when both you and the luggage are being carried by the same train?
@maneckt18935 жыл бұрын
@@vanglover6030 Thank you for your kind comments. At the end of the day it's all Bhagawan's grace which helps us understand his teachings better. It's very important for us to understand that all is Prarabdha. The Prarabdha theory helps us to Surrender to Bhagawan. The challenge is when we forget to do so when the real test of time is in front of us. That's when we start thinking Oh! I have to do this n I have to do that. David has explained this point very well in this video where he says once you surrender you surrender completely. Then you don't keep going out n bringing the garbage back into your house. Our problem is we do selective surrender. May Bhagawan's grace help us all in surrendering completely. 🙏

Path of devotion or bhakti is dualistic where we are the devotee of a God who is outside of us, other than us....in Advaita the God and Self are one and the same so there is no duality. But love of God is such a powerful emotion, so enjoyable an experience and so totally intoxicating, that we just become addicted to it. I can't even imagine not submerging myself in Lord Shiva's and the Mother Divine's devotion! The description of this lady's devotion and surrender reminds of Mira's story. Did she remain in her physical body once she attained self realization with her guru's Lakshman's grace?

Surrender doesn't mean things will turn out successful in the future. It's quite natural that events in life will alternate between good and bad. As you surrender more and more, you will find out that things will bother you less and less whatever the outcome is. In other words, you become more and more peaceful inside.

NO ITS EASY. REALIZE THAT YOUR WANDERING MIND OR THOUGHTS COME OUT OF A PERSONALITY YOU ARE CREATING, MANUFACTURING. JUST TELL YOUR "I" - COME BACK TO THE SOURCE. IT WILL RETURN, & THERE YOU WILL FIND ONCE AGAIN THE 'GOD-SELF', THE REAL YOU - THE OTHER THING YOU CREATED SEEMS REAL, BUT IT'S NOT THE ABSOLUTE YOU. THE REAL YOU DOES NOT HAVE THE THOUGHTS & FEELINGS OF THE EARTH PERSONALITIES YOU CREATE. IT'S NEUTRAL I THINK. (IF I ERR IN MY EXPLANATIONS REFER TO DAVID GODMAN AGAIN.)

I find it interesting that people, the people who are awake in their heart, seek so much to connect with "God" I did this and still do, but at the same time have come to a place where probably daily I feel to clearly be in the presence of the divine and have come to somewhat take it for granted. As in I witness the divine mastery of creation doing things beyond chance, showing vision/ intervening with intricate precision that only a god could do, intimately present, aware of the slightest nuance, and also the bigger picture. Yes God is always present, yes we are all part of it. Then I lose focus and snap back into dealing with things of this world, but am learning to take it all with a grain of salt for indeed it's temporary and divine union is a constant if we awaken. Yes so I find it interesting that he say union with god when he was a child, and then Maya in its many forms distracted him, until by grace he found his way back to the reality of what some may call god. I resonate with this, i saw miracles as a child, now I realize they are happening constantly.

I like your concise explanations, listening for example to questions and answers referring to Nisargadatta are often long winded and sometimes incomprehensible but you manage to simplify things and yet remain accurate ( an author who understands his craft) Nisargadatta's talks on prior to consciousness sounds like an atheist talking, death means death, without awareness there can only be death, a wave merging with the ocean sounds like death to me.
