But his achievements are not bad, he made Wigan a stable premier league team for much longer than they should have been as well as winning a trophy and his football was fairly ahead of its time. The problem wasn't the formation but the players that didn't do there job and should have been sub out in the second half like Silva, Dalot, Concelo & Leao😝☕️😘👌

You have to create more chances if you have that many ball possession. When you have a great center back that plays in a line of 3 center backs, and you decide to put a full back instead of him, you are very wrong. Then at 60 minute I figured at least 3 subs were coming and the other 2 at the 70th. It was an incredibly difficult match to watch, because the managerial decisions were so blatantly awful. Bruno, Cancelo and Bernardo all should have come off at half time or before the 60th. Portugal coulda won 3-0, 4-0 if they had made changes earlier.

The Portugal team is by far the most gifted squad at the whole tournament. They have game winners all over the pitch and on the bench. To top it off they can actually play too. Bruno, Vitinha, Bernardo Silva and co are a joy to watch. Goncalo Ramos, Neto, Conceicao and Jaoa Felix are also great options from the bench. These pundits are clueless if they think Portugal isn't a gifted squad.

Martinez is a nice guy, but that also leads to him lacking a backbone. Obviously CR still has the the potential to be a matchwinner, yet in the event he doesn't perform over the course of the tournament then I'm certain he wouldn't have the courage to drop him. I don't think you can compare messi's world cup and ronaldo in this euro. Messi's team is 100% behind him and it shows, they really want him to win the world cup. You can even say after portugal's exit, all neutrals want argentina to win it since only one of the goats is still competing. One of them has to win it before they retire. sorry man but messi wasn't Argentinas best player. It was Martinez in goal without a doubt. Messi scored 7 goals but 4 came off of pens and yes that'd apart of the game and all. but messi didn't exactly do anything special. In the world cup final Mbappe was the one who showed he is the best in the world. the last 20 mins of full time he was absolutely dangerous and if his teammates could finish they would have won. partly why I credit martinez with argentinas player of the tournament. he had HUGE saves in that game not to mention the psycho psychological warfare he did to the French youth before the shootout. Argentina were lucky to get past Netherlands, idk how a players kicks a ball 120kmh into the Netherlands bench and doesn't get red carded for it. Just plain pathetic

Without him they wouldn't have even made it out the group stage, which meant Martinez wouldn't have got the chance to do what he did in the shootout vs Holland and in the final against France. Being the standout player isn't just about one or two games. Martinez was vital in those matches, yet Messi produced against Mexico, Australia, Netherlands, Croatia and France with goals and assists.
