Football has changed a lot. Fergie achieved a major legacy of success. BUT he would be a total failure in the modern game. He was a bully that shouted at young players when they didn't perform. Can't get away with that now. He was not a great tactician but had a style that was very effective for many years. Pep is clearly a superior manager, just hasn't been there LONG enough to compare to Sir Alex's record.

Fergie was also running aspect of the club pep doesn't have to bother with, he just runs training. 3 in a row twice, first and only non cheated treble, only double winning manager, 13 prems, took a team from 19th to winning the champions league on 6th try. Peps only won one champs league in 14 years. He got beat by fergie over two games before he beat him in two games. Managed to build 5 successful teams at one club not bounce around to the next best option or already winning team.

Totally agree. Fergie achieved something not done before or since with a club the size of Aberdeen. He broke the 100 year old domination of the Old Firm. If Pep took over eg Malaga and regularly beat Real and Barca by winning 10 trophies in 6 years, and then became the best team in Europe as Aberdeen was in 1983 then he can sit alongside The GOAT, SAF.

Given the tools he's been handed, there's no way you can say Pep has overachieved at any of the clubs he's managed! What has Pep done that compares to what Fergie did at Aberdeen or what he did at United between 2006-11? People go on about City winning four titles in a row but United would've won five titles in a row but for an offside goal for Chelsea. United also got to three CL finals in four seasons whilst using some players who wouldn't have looked out of place in League One! Pep is clearly a great manager but let's see what he can do when he hasn't been given the best squad of players in world football!

Also, Fergie's tactics did not evolve and that was why he came up short when he played very good teams in Europe. That explains why he failed to qualify from the CL group stage in numerous occasions and why he won only 2 CLs in 27 years. 1 of the CL he won was due to a John Terry slip and the other was due to last minute goals.

Sorry, before Fergie won his 1st Premier League Title, there were various champions such as Arsenal, Liverpool, Everton and Leeds. In 1995 Blackburn won the Premier League and Newcastle bottled the 1996 Premier League all before Wenger arrived at Arsenal. In the past 7 years, only Man City and Liverpool have won the Premier League and they're the current top 2 whereas Arsenal only challenged for 2 of them seasons. Football used to be a hard man's game in the 70's, 80's and 90's but sadly now it's full of snowflakes who complain about too much football, no wonder Rhodri spoke earlier this year about players going on strike.
