i would say, the story is about identity and trauma. The house represents Kungan's mind he is trapped in, while his broken mother represents the trauma that he suffered as a kid, which i would say is her accident, a trauma that tortures him mentally and physically, in the form of self harm. What if his mother actually died from the accident, and it traumatised him deeply ? He becomes schizophrenic, his other self represented by Lobifu, who portrays his lost innocence, a childhood tainted by the accident, and his grief turned into self hatred. Maybe he develops body dysmorphia, wanting to see his mother again so badly he's ready to *become* her, believing this would allow him to overcome the grief, and "cut the cord" in a twisted way. He goes as far as mutilating himself, and killing his mother in the album and eating her would represent him overcoming his trauma, and successfully "becoming" his mother, assimilating her mannerisms and such. But, at the end of the day, he realizes that it's all in vain, it's benign. Nothing has changed, he still can't overcome his grief, shown by this door that he can't open without the code, that only his mother has. He mutilated himself, and gave in to his schizophrenic thoughts, for nothing, he still can't get over his mother's death and is still trapped in his own twisted mind. Maybe if he tackled this grief in a more healthy way, then he would have gotten the code and be freed, but as we know, he's not clever enough to fix it, so he tries his best to twist it That's the way i see it, of course i could be totally wrong. An absolute masterpiece of an album, i can't get enough of it

I always figured Red Light was referring to the police lights once the police gained entrance to the house and found him. And the “heresy” stuff is Kungan’s utter shock that it ended the way it did. He’d planned something else, and his end is heresy to the god he’s become in his head.

I've been writing my stories since 2007, Justin. 15 years. I've finished one book, "THE BOOK OF BOX, VOL. 1," and am currently writing the sequel. No one knows I exist, but I don't care and that's not the point...I write in concept albums, same as you. I have this whole time, except for a couple of insane sketchpad exceptions. Watching all of this and seeing someone amazing, like AMAZING amazing, who grinds the bones for their bread like I do, has given me more peace and confidence in the way I've been making my stuff than I could have otherwise ever hoped for. I feel like i get what I'm going for now, and I am so grateful for the way you've made my whole fucking life's work make sense that you could measure it with a seismograph ❤️. Also, name of the first song I ever wrote as a citizen of Tennessee after the Easter Tornado of 2020, which missed our building by a quarter of a mile: "Red Lights." Youdabess. -Box.

All the hate and anger he never was able to show, turned into an alter of his mind, (does that make sense?) I have listened the album possibly multiple times by now and it's always enjoyable listening to it every time. Sad to see this little series finally end but it was interesting getting to know what each song was about. Whatever you guys do next in the future, I can't wait to see what it will be. Tallah has become my fav. band. Not only because of the music itself, but also because of this whole concept behind it. For me Matriphagy is pure art. Back in 2018 when the EP dropped I was hyped, but not that impressed. But with the whole album and the whole story and THIS lovely series Im more than speachless and I hope one day Ill see you guys here in Germany

Alright here's my theory, the house isn't boarded up and there isn't a vault. Kungan simply believes that it is. Because Tallah is controlling and doesn't want Kungan to leave or truly grow up. This is why Kungan still has boyish things in his room. The code is actually a metaphor for the preparations and training your parents give you to go out into the real world. Something only Tallah knew

I like to think that after cops eventually got into the house and caught him, he’s taken to prison and is placed on death row but there’s a massive prison riot that breaks out and all the prisoners are fighting and killing everyone there’s just chaos everywhere and Kungan escapes into the outside world and is truly free. He lives to become a serial killer🙃
