Each track gets their own level... Level 1: Dave gets fired from Metallica and has to fight James, Lars, and Cliff. The player cannot win this fight. Level 2: Dave tells Junior to turn down his fucking bass. The two then go out drinking and get into a bar fight with Kerry King. Level 3: Dave establishes a complete band, and they record their debut album. The band gets into a fight with each other over money, booze, and drugs. Level 4: The band records Peace Sells, and they make some more money. They spend all their money on drugs and beat Gar up for pawning the band's equipment. Level 5: Dave learns that Cliff dies. He then engages in a boss battle with the bus driver to avenge Cliff. Level 6: The band's third album gets released. The band parties so hard that Dave was required to attend AA. He fights to convince Junior to become his substitute. Level 7: Dave breaks up with Diana. They have a fight. Level 8: The band hires Marty and Nick. Everyone is in favor of the new lineup, and there's not a fight for this level. Level 9: Rust in Peace is released. Metallica starts going down the shitter in terms of quality and their strength is weakened. Dave, Junior, Marty, and Nick get into a fight with James, Lars, Kirk, and Jason. Easiest boss battle in the history of video games.

Maaaaad fuckin props on this man! As a composer, this is actually incredible not just as a faithful recreation but in that the rearrangement for 8bit sound channels really brings a kind of clarity to the music that shows the coolest parts off really well. Lots of people on the classical music space tend do discount the artistry of metal, and this does a really good job of showing the truly interesting and complex counterpoint and harmonic choices that can be found in metal. Awesome stuff!
