I was on this ferry with my friend when it sailed between Helsinki and Riga in summer 2020. We had a deluxe cabin.

Amazing. How was the Baltic Queen? Would love to travel back to Stockholm on it and arrive through the islands. Which way did you go?

Baltic Queen is a Galaxy class ship, there was 3 identical build. They are very efficient. Really designed to be as efficient as possible. Slightly larger than the older Romantica class ships. But i got to say, Galaxy class ship have a really boring interior design. Romantica while slightly smaller have a bit nicer layout. And the older smaller Isabelle is even more interesting (no longer in use). And that not even talking about the absolutely huge Serenad and Symfoni and Europa.... and well Glory and Grace.... hmm.. when i think about it. Baltic Queen is probobly the smallest ferry still in use on those large routs. (double checked, Viking line actually have two smaller ship, but one of them is an express ship, so no true cruse ferry) "it seemed to take hours"... well then it seemed right. It takes about 5 hours to get fully out of all the island. Granted, the last hour is way less island, and the ship speed up quite a bit.

I don’t have much experience of longer ferry rides, just Dover to Calais! It was a big ship for me, and quite nice. We’re going on a ferry from Italy to Croatia this summer which doesn’t look nearly as nice but we’ll see

@@TravelsWithCharlie We have loads of them. The Baltic is the most cruse-ferry infested waters in the world. And its all because of the Åland Island that refuse to have high tax on boos. If i dont miss remember in 2019 there was 20 cruise ferry that operated daily route out of Stockholm. Now there is only 10. (well Stockholm central. There is quite a few more around the Stockholm region, but those are mostly for car and truck transport) But, well at least they are buying new ships like there is no tomorrow. They added Mega Star in 2017 and My Star in 2022 (despite the name, is my Star the larger ferry). Those are quite a bit bigger than Baltic queen, but high speed ferries. And in Stockholm they added Grace and Glory. Two hyper efficient experimental ship that use combine cycle diesel engines with gas-oil combined fuel. Glory is also really large, almost twice the size of Baltic Queen. Its worth saying that Cruise Ferries, unlike Cruse ships have a primary task of transporting people. The Cruise part is just a bonus. So a Cruse Ferry have plenty of B and C cabins, whole Cruise ships typically have very few of them (if any). So a ship with a modest size like the Baltic Queen have more beds than a lot of fairly big cruise ships

Next time we will check out Grace or Glory then

@@TravelsWithCharlie will be interesting. I never been on any of them.i have seen them up close a few times. The drawbacks of them is that they run a very tight time table, so its not very relaxa friendly.(Well, if you are not going both ways). Also worth saying that the largest crusie ferry in use today go Oslo-kiel run... are even larger than glory... but quite a bit older.

The ferry we caught was just Stockholm to Tallinn. It didn’t go on after that and I’m not sure if there’s a ferry direct to Riga, sorry

Its very seasonal. It can esially go from €100 to €200 for exact same cabin. For example. A A cabin in mid July cost about €300, September its €200 and November its €150 (both ways). And some times they have sort of extra cheep drives, then a A cabin can go for €50 (both way, typically just during winter month). Last year in February they was selling them for €50 or with double bonus point. That was sufficient to just use our points from the last cruise so we payed literally nothing. That for a A cabin (both ways) for 4 person. I tested B, A, A premium, Deluxe, Promenade and Promenade deluxe (two last not available on Baltic queen). I tested C and E on other cruse ferry companies to (Tallink have miss named there E cabins, they are actually C cabins) There also exist C2 cabins. Technically, A2 and A3 cabins exist, but you can´t book them. They are just assigned due to availability (typically if you are 2, you get a A2, if you are 3 you get a A3, if you are 4 you get a A4.. but if the A2 are out, you can get a A3 or a A4 even if you are only 2 people) A, B and C(4) (called E on Baltic queen) are all identical in size, and shape, apart from A have widow and B and C either got a mirror or a Mural (usually with a curtain simulating a window). The only diffrance between B and C(4) is where they are placed. C2 usually have two beds in bunk. They are oddly shaped. Its like the space that got left, they made into C2 cabins. A3 are identical to the A2 in this video, but there is a bunk bed on the non sofa side. A4 have two sofas and two on top beds. A premium have a small but very usable double bed. Perfect when traveling with your wife or mistress... or both. Deluxe is a meter wider and have a larger window. It have a full size double bed, a sofa and/or chair, a makeup table with mirror, a fridge. Promenade and Promenade deluxe are identical to A and deluxe cabin but have a inwards view. There is also a gigantic window syl that in the deluxe cabin is replaced with a sofa. (there is no promenade cabin on Baltic queen). There is one more diffrance. On the Promenade (the A like) cabin, there is a sofa become a bed like in the A cabin, but the other bed is not fixed. So it can be used both as a stand alone bed and as a double bed. Deluxe cabins also typically have deluxe breakfast included. So while the Deluxe cabin might seam very expensive on the surface. If you travle two adults two ways, that is about €100 of breakfast included (2x2x€26)

We paid 217 Euros, which covered the cabin and a fuel surcharge and an optional breakfast. You could pass on the breakfast or go with a cheaper cabin. That was in August, maybe that is more expensive?
