I absolutely love the weight Tam Lu puts behind every movement while somehow retaining the fast-paced coreography. It's so brilliant that when I first saw a cut of his, I genuinely questioned if it was CGI. His understanding of 3D space and his insane camerawork that comes along with it results into a terrifyingly gorgeous watch. Definitely one of my favorite web-gen animators, honestly can't wait to see more of his stuff. Also, an amazing MAD yet again! Would love to see more of those in the future alongside your usual content. I think it'd make for a really nice mix of analysis, background info and end result.

When I started watching Castlevania, I never expected the animation to be this good. All the sakgua moments that left me speechless turned out to be the work of this genius.

Well, it's not really the 'animation' that is the main appeal of the show, but the visuals. Not to say that the animation is bad. It's the compositing and the shading in these scenes that really stands out.

This MAD really makes me appreciate the way Tam Lu animates cloth and and uses shadows. The movement is not only amazing but the shadow placement and amount is always the exact amount needed to show the depth and form of an object for every single frame, whether it's a cape, hair, or effects animation. No wonder their recent 'lineless' animations still have so much clarity. And btw, placing the Hollow Purple cut at that part of the music was a perfect choice!!!

He will be one of the main animators. Question is, since he most likely already finished all of his work for nocturne, what's he working on right now? Inhaling massive amounts of hopium gives me JJK S2 as the answer.

Can’t wait to see what insane nonsense this man animated on Nocturne. With how most of the characters can use magic I’m sure we’ll get to see more of his crazy effects animation, and I’m so excited to see what he and the rest of their team has done. Great MAD! Tam is a crazy talented guy and you captured a ton of that in the video. Keep it up! Also, congrats on 7k subs!

The color grading is next level, the animation looks like he doesn't draw heavily on ones but holy hell the choreography is still immaculate ASF
@-MankoMan Жыл бұрын
Not only does he never draw on ones, he goes a little lower than even twos, usually sticks to threes. Then he does the unholy act of not having in-betweening help with his work. Most of his works are entirely finished by him. An incredibly unique animator.

@@-MankoManholy crap! That low with zero quality drop. The way he utilizes he's skills is truly remarkable, it's just really mesmerizing to look at. NGL not surprised he does in-betweens himself, even the character acting dosen't fall out of place irregardless of he's animation philosophy of using lower frames.

Can you make a video sharing your knowledge of the whole animation process. Pre=production, production and pro-production, but mainly just a detailed explanation of the stages of production talking about the most common methods used. Its hard to find videos to explain it in enough detail, so id appreciate that a lot bro.

I wish Mappa and Imai used Tam Lu for some action animation instead of Gojo's hollow purple. While Gojo's purple is cool and all, nobody outside of Sakuga community talks about it, where as if he made an action sequence, all people including even normies would have talked about it. Also, I think that episode's second half needed a memorable action sequace, manga readers were not that happy with Gojo v Toji part 2 since they expected something sakuga heavy extended fight scenes. What we got was not bad but it felt a little bit underwhelming after seeing how good part 1 was and how hyped that moment was in the manga community.
@-MankoMan Жыл бұрын
Tam Lu is a highly idiosyncratic animator with a very unique style. If he animated a "proper" action sequence, either of these 2 things would happen: 1) People complain that the drawings look weird for JJK's style. 2) His animation does not even make it to the final version because of the bad schedule, similar to what happened with his scene in my hero academia season 5.

Now I can't wait for Nocturne. I love how he became Powerhouses main action animator. He's to Powerhouse what Yutapon is to Bones or Abe to Ufotable. No disrespect to Spencer Wan, first two seasons were amazing but it still looked like a typical western production until Tam Lu came along.
@frizen9328 Жыл бұрын
I'm guessing what you mean by that is the first 2 seasons having very on model animation and not going too crazy with individualistic expression?
@markomaksimovic7678 Жыл бұрын
@@frizen9328 Yeah but not just that. The spacing between frames was small and and the storyboarding made the action feel smooth but slow at the same time. The fight between Trevor and Alucard in season 1 was coreographed masterfully but still felt slow and heavy for some reason. I guess they were going for a more realistic look.
@frizen9328 Жыл бұрын
@@markomaksimovic7678 The weighty more realistic movement is definitely a Spencer thing. So you're kind of talking about how a lot of anime now has very exaggerated action. The Nakamura meme of boy goes whoosh and screen goes brrtz basically 😂
@simplyrohith2163 Жыл бұрын
He's not a part of Powerhouse production tho? He works because Samuel Deats is the director. Ray is another main animator who worked on Mushoku Tensei recently.
@markomaksimovic7678 Жыл бұрын
@@frizen9328 Hahahaha true. Although I also have a small problem with Nakamura and his flying saucer Endeavor. I guess at the end of the day it's not a question about the quality of the animation itself but rather the personal tastes of the viewer. 😁

Right when I was making a Tam Lu inspired animation LMAO. His timing feels like the one of Spencer Wan, but the way he draws looks like a combination of Shinya Ohira, Yutaka Nakamura and a psych-ward patient.
@-MankoMan Жыл бұрын
As much as I like your description of his drawings, the real inspiration he takes is from Ken Yamamoto. Check out the similarities in shading, timing and effects shapes: www.sakugabooru.com/post/show/144499 Tam Lu has mastered Yamamoto's style to the point where when they both worked together in castlevania 4x09 for the resurrection scene, we couldn't tell who animated which part.
