The best thing about the Tama Iron Cobra pedals is SOLID. And how the spring (tension) arm moves at the bottom, not just at the top. Really increases smoothness and removes any "squeaky" spring sounds. Curious that bottom spring seems pretty cool but I always wondered how much it really helps? (I don't have that model).

I have an IC Rolling Glide and a Speed Cobra and love them both equally. The thing that I'm really a fan of with Tama is that if your pedal needs any maintenance at all, or even if you want to upgrade or swap out parts, it's extremely easy to do, and parts are easy to acquire.

I’m considering both of these pedals - what’s been your experience with each of them? I’ve been on quite the pedal hunt. Gone thru the Dw mdd, mcd, pearl demon chain, currently on a Dw 5000. Just can’t seem to find a pedal that has a healthy blend of light feel but also powerful throw, not to mention a linear stroke…would love your thoughts.

Awesome. I'm desperately looking for a replacement for the two Ludwig atlas pro pedals I got from you guys and gals. I've never had so many problems with bass drum pedals until I got the atlas pros. Just imagine double kicking metal live in front on an audience not knowing if or when one of the adjustment points will fail. I think I might have to try a Tama pedal.

If I could actually tell you how much Dw hardware I’ve replaced with Tama hardware…yeesh. So far I’ve been unable to even createmm by problems for myself. I play nightly on broadway here in nashville. These gigs are four hours non stop, no breaks. My Tama pedals have given me THE most confidence. I had tried the Dw 9000, mdd, mcd, 5000, pearl demon chain, I tried a plethora. My speed cobras smoke everything else. I’ve learned the very very expensive way to just aim for Tama before anything else.

What’s the difference between the power glide and rolling glide?

The shape of the cam that houses the chain! Rolling Glide is a rounded-circumferenced shape, it gives a consistent feel all the way through the motion, from the moment you push the footboard to the moment the beater comes back. The Power Glide on the other hand, have an offset shape that provides a more agressive pedal action, which increases the beater's power and speed as it reaches the end of the stroke! Hope it helps!

Rather get this iron cobra than the pearl p930 , feel the iron cobra pedal has a more rebound to it and attack than the one I have which is the p930. Since I have a pearl maple decade , the kick gets a nice punchy sound of it , so iron cobra would be my choice to buy

Put the P930 footboard up in the power position and take off the red cam and it hits hard and has amazing rebound. Beater head dictates attack.

I had a power glide and sold it cause i wanted to try a old school reissue tama camco pedal. The camco is a smooth pedal, i wish i never sold the iron cobra...oh well live and learn.

how come they didn't come up with a wooden ended beater of the same profile as the black felt? Would've been a nice option...but I ain't complaining, suppose the clear plastic one is the closest option in terms of attack

Rolling glide has an even, circular cam with a smooth linear travel. Power glide has an offset cam that makes the beater move faster with the same amount of force.

I wouldn’t recommend doing doing that. I’d suggest you get the Accu-strike beater that’s used with the Speed Cobra pedal. It’s a rubber beater, so your kick is gonna sound super clicky.

I still don't understand why Tama stopped putting anchor screws on their pedals. Every other company has them on their pedals. It's just common sense, especially if you've got a vintage kit with a bass drum that scurries away from way when you're pounding it with a modern pedal.

This was the deal breaker for me. Especially if you are gigging and playing at venues with different house kits that tend to slide away. I ended up going with the DW 5000. Lets hope the next gen of IC see them introduced. Stability is key!

+Rafa Ramirez The HP910LN is actually a completely different pedal called the Speed Cobra. Speed Cobras are longer and suited more faster players, but they can still easily be used in any situation. They're both amazing pedals, but you should definitely try both at a music store if possible. For me personally, I've found that the Speed Cobra has more of a direct feeling, while the Iron Cobra gives more punch and power.

@@larrytate1657 not really imo. I have both, an old first generation IC (from back in 93, I think) and the last 2016 SC (bought in 17). I love them both, both have a great feel and lot of power. The SC is really fast (it always depends on you and your settings, like any pedal), and very, very comfy (long board definitely helps me). I've been playing the old IC for more than 20 or 22 years (those things are indestructible), but I had no issue to getting used to the SC, the transition was immediate. Today I use them both, I have one on my acoustic kit and the other on the electronic, at home. When I play fast stuff I prefer the SC, but for any other thing it's indifferent to me. Not so fan of older IC beaters though, I use Pearl ones on the IC. By the way, I also have the SC hi hat stand, and it's great.

I have the 1st gen black one (not the silver one), and the new one with the swivel nut. I can honestly say I like the old one better, it gives just a little more feedback.The swivel nut just contributes to it feeling smoother, but it definitely doesn't make it faster. It's still a good pedal and I'll keep it but you won't gain anything by upgrading. Buy a new cymbal with your money :-)

Do you like it better than the dw5000? I have a dw5000A and I like it,but I’m always looking for an upgrade. I have health issues that make me not able to go as fast as I used to be and I can’t do double pedals,anymore. It looks like your having more fun with this pedal.

Thanks for the interest, Justin. That is kind of a tough question, as both are great pedals. Typically with a bass drum pedal it is such a personal thing, hard to say one's better or worse as much as just different. Both the DW5000 and this one are very versatile in their setup and how they can be dialed in for your playing style. Have you played with making adjustments on your DW? Nabil Karsheh The speed cobra has a longer footboard, a rubber beater, and only comes in the rolling glide variant(sacrifice power for speed).

Jamal M not sure if the beater pad is felt or not but if it is, it will eventually tear through the mesh pad on your bass drum. People recommend using plastic beaters on electronic kits
