This drum features a seamless 1.2 mm Aluminum shell with a center bead. The 8-lug Steel Mighty Hoops make for a crisp sound with short sustain. The vintage look and sound are reminiscent of the early years of popular aluminum snare drums.

I've watched all these SLP demo vids and I've gotta say: Jon Bergamini is one hell of a studio drummer! He seems to master all styles while bringing his own creative touches, both subtle and head-turning.

Yeah, but Jon Bergamini or Nick D'Virgio from Sweetwater?! Lol, I don't think anyone can beat Nick's demo playing.

Aluminum is a great all around versatile snare. It excels in hard rock, metal, jazz, country, etc....It’s probably the most versatile snare shell material.

Tama toms are so refined sounding. In some ways, they’re the best Tom drums in the world. My drums are Gretsch but I would not mind owning a set of Tamas.

Ronald Zeoli 6.5 depth and 10 lugs. You can always put diecast hoops on but you can’t really add lugs.

One thing I don't see in any of these videos are head choice and tuning style (top higher/lower, etc) and tuning frequency. I'd love to know these things.

The funny thing with aluminum snares is that they’re kind of bland sounding compared to special woods and brass but they blend in so well in the music and in some ways, I kind of feel that aluminum snares are best for the mixes.

Tama should do the 14x6" version with the classic aluminium colour instead of this blue. In fact there are not 14x6" 8 lugs aluminium snares on the market. I had the starphonic aluminium. Great tone but horrible hoops and too much heavy hardware on It.

viktor7m They actually do. You have to look at the Signature Series snares. I think it’s the Charlie Bennante snare. They should at bare minimum have a Black Beauty clone in the SLP range. The Ludwig Black Magic is killer for $400 but Tama is going for for of a boutique range as opposed to work horse snares.
