Great review! Just picked up this pedal and I can say it’s the smoothest pedal I’ve played (I also own the DW machine chain drive double pedal). I prefer the Tama pedal.... just feels more solid and effortless.

I have always used the iron cobra double pedal and single pedals, when I saw the speed cobra in a drum shop in the middle of 2015 I was curious) it was the cheapo 310 version, so I tried it in the shop and found it was OK, so I decided to buy it and just upgrade a few parts that I already have accumulated over the years ( I put the tama support springs under the foot plate, changed the linkage bar, and pedal springs, put better skate board bearings in the pedals and put some mapex beaters on with the added weights that could be fitted in to the beater head, and I still play that exact same pedal today, very easy to use pedal, and although mine isn't the 910 version it's close enough

DW for years have had swivel spring at the bottom but its just good marketing with the swivel. the spring swivels on the looped end anyway.

Didn’t DW do the swivel thing first with the 5000s. I don’t know the timeframe, but the rev used 9000s, the later generation, back in 2008.

U should try solid state version of the speed demon! I tried one and loved it more than thw chain but I have a demon drive alrdy and they seem less sturdy for things like tours. They should still make them and that was before the new spring hinges. I just got thw demon drive because I play multiple styles of music so switching from long board to short board is super handy for me. Other wise I'd have to buy 2 pedals

Great review, much appreciated. Question: Another review mentioned that the main pedal shifts to the side, possible due to the fact that it does not have spurs. Have you experienced this?

Got these recently and love them however I have only experienced 1 problem ...over the coarse of play the stock beaters start to turn sideways. It's like the screw that tightens the beater in place can't hold it firmly enough in place? I've had no problems with other beaters but these always start to turn on me....wish this wasn't the case because I like the beaters. Did this happen to you at all?
@heavydrumsinc4816

I've not had that no. I've been playing that much recently. But the playing I have done, no not even a little.
@kevinbothwell8425
@kevinbothwell8425 3 жыл бұрын
My guess is that your bass drum isn’t firmly secured in place and subtly swivels, causing your beaters to also swivel. If you’re still having this issue, check your bass drum spurs and make sure everything is firmly secured.

Keep the Demon Drive driveshaft for the Cobras if you decide to stick with one, the Tama type is super cheap and develops play within a matter of hours, if it doesn't already exist out of the box.
@heavydrumsinc4816
@heavydrumsinc4816 5 жыл бұрын
Yes, I was thinking about doing that. I might get a trick shaft if I let the demons go. I've had the demon shaft on the cobras, it helped but not as much as I have experienced on other pedals. As of now the cobra shaft has zero play in it, which even when it's new is surprising. But as you say it'll be on the way. But out the box it's a nice feeling light drive shaft. I'm so impressed by these pedals. Thanks for watching!!

@heavydrumsinc4816

I have a Iron Cobra 600 and the footboard has a bit of side to side movement, leading to a noise coming from the hinge between the footboard and the base. It's quite high to the point to bother me while playing. Does your 910 have any kind of side to side movement?

My 600 iron cobra also has that squeaky sound. I have mine for almost 2 years. The squeaky sound started last year and I can't figure out where is that sound coming from. Then last week I tried again and I put a little bit of touch of a WD40 in the hinge where the spring attached or hooked up. Just put a little lubricant, I used cotton buds. And the squeaky sound is now gone!

great review :) there is almost nowhere to find this information on the internet, I am wondering is the right pedal axle going through from one post to the other and left pedal going over it like on a dew 9000, or they connect in the middle of right pedal like for an example on an iron cobra?

hm it's hard to explain, i mean the rights pedal main rotating axle, are there a two axles for each pedal or there is a one for the right pedal that goes from one post to another, and the left one goes over it that moves the left beater

Oh yeah, and you can feel and manipulate the pedal better I feel. The demon drives are great, but they feel less flexible and abit like they are playing you at times. If you are not a diehard direct drive fan, definitely go for the speed cobras. In my opinion as close to perfect kick pedals I've had.
