I love her but I'm going to have to disagree with her. Malcolm-Jamal Warner been working constantly since Cosby Show went off. He had his own show and it's on a major Network working today. Raven Symone and Erika Alexander had big sitcoms shows, yeah Keshia Knight Pulliam decided to go to college but she still acted after she got done. Hell she just did almost hundred episodes on House of Pain. Hell even Tempestt Bledsoe had her own talk shoe. Those Cosby kids have never been in any trouble since that show went off the air. I'm pretty sure they've made millions off those royalties checks since the Cosby show went off and some just didn't do the right thing with there money.

I'm not trying to hate on Tamala, but I don't recall her roles in Booty Call, The Wood, the Friday sequel, etc being prime time gigs either. No one will put her in the category of top female actresses. It's a shame when black people don't stick together in the struggle. She stated how you can be #1 one minute and #20 the next. Therefore, she should recognize what he was going through being in the same profession. Vlad pisses me off, because he ridicules the misfortune of Geoffrey Owens. What about those 50yr old professionals who have good careers and companies downsize and they go from 6 figure salaries down to 35-45K. That can happen and these men and women work those lower paying jobs until they find better. Unfortunately, there are some actors and actresses who were on great shows at one point but due to lack of roles are thrust back into the working class. I respect anyone who believes working for their money and earning their way. I might respect Vlad or Tamala more if they used their connects to help him or any of the poor, misguided Cosby Show kids get these prominent roles they speak of.

You can always tell the civilians who have no idea what it means to be a working actor. Just because you were a regular on a series doesn't mean you're handed employment. You have to be chosen no matter how good an actor you are. Working actors aren't movie stars who are set for life.

Keisha Knight Pullium worked after the Cosby Show. You just have to remember she was a kid when the show ended so she finished school and then she went to college. Then after that she got back into acting and was doing movies and then did House of Payne for years almost as long as the Cosby Show. They worked, just maybe not in high profile shows. But they worked.

@marcrobinson49075 жыл бұрын
Malcom Jamal Warner had his own she with Eddie Griffin that was on for 4 or 5 seasons. He was also in passenger 57 with Wesley Snipes. Tempest Bledsoe had a talk show for maybe a year and a half. Lisa Bonet did Angel Heart while on the Cosby Show then a different world which didn’t get good until after she left the show. She had a small role on Biker Boyz and Enemy of the State. I’m glad Tamala Jones said that her thought on their careers was just a theory and I believe she is half right. What I think is that although the 90s started ushering in more black movies I don’t think anyone would hire anyone from that cast because they were so recognizable as the Cosby kids and cast. Bill Cosby hired certain types of people to act on his show. Cosby showed the types of blacks you didn’t get to see on tv at the time which is non ghetto proper speaking children. The guy that played Elvin and his wife Sandra were types of black characters under represented on tv. The short version is more likely that because the Show was so iconic it pigeon held all of them back because of the 9 year success of the show. Raven Simone’s success seemed to come out of left field. She was on the cover of I think Ebony magazine and the title said that she was worth 400 million. That was in the early 2000s. In my opinion Malcom was the only one with real acting chops I think that he was built for dramatic roles but for many years he would only be seen as Theo. It’s no different for Jaleel White. He after all this time he will always be seen as Urkel or Jimmy Walker who was always seen as JJ Evans. Now Tamala in a way has been lucky because she doesn’t have a iconic tv role that people link her to that would hold her back from work. Imagine if her role in Next Friday (pregnant D’Wana) was all that she was known for. She would have a hard time finding work too.

It’s sad that his life was cut short. He was so talented and handsome. And most, if not ALL the Cosby kids had respectable careers after the Cosby show, and are well known. I can’t say the same for Tamala though.

I believe she’s speaking way out of turn when it comes to this subject. Her path was her path. Those actors went on to do things that made them fulfilled. They became professors, financial advisors, directors, writers, musicians...they’ve had well rounded careers. The industry can be fickle & out you in a box. That happens a lot, especially to actors who are on long running tv shows. I think her idea that Bill Cosby hypnotized them into his way of doing things is ridiculous. On top of that, sometimes actors get burnt out & want to do other things. Find their own lane...develop their own path.

I do not know what y'all are talking about because Malcolm has BEEN working since "The Cosby Show". He had his own series "Malcolm & Eddie" for like 4 years. He did the Tuskegee Airmen, he did his own series with Traci Ellis Ross called "Reed Between The Lines". Check his IMDB credits before talking. His resume is extensive and his networth is probably greater than Tamala's - no offense. Phylicia Rashad did A LOT of Broadway and also had consistent cheques because she did like 2 other shows with him outside of "The Cosby Show" for years, which was "Cosby" and "Little Bill". But she also has an extensive resume and really started to get back into the swing of things from 2008 where she went from Broadway to TV with "A Raisin In the Sun" and then 2010 with films like "Just Wright" opposite Common and Queen Latifah, "Frankie and Alice" with Halle Berry, and "For Colored Girls" with Tyler Perry with whom she did like 2 films. So she is not just now coming around because of Debbie Allen. She has been around. Keshia may not have as extensive a resume as they do, but she still did not do too bad considering she was a huge child star outside of "The Cosby Show" when it was on. She did a lot of movies during her childhood and then took a break to go to college. Then came back on Beauty Shop and was on House of Payne for 5 seasons. The actor from the show that has gone on to do the least (outside of the one who plays Sandra who is now an interior designer) .... is ACTUALLY Lisa Bonet with about 4 movies to her credit so I don't understand how y'all praising her with her underwhelming resume. And Raven did not go to Disney. She first went to "Hanging with Mr. Cooper". In my opinion, the Cosby kids when compared to kids/actors from other sitcoms of their era and even after, have done pretty well in terms of longevity. Will Smith was really the only big break out star of "The Fresh Prince of Belair" and the first Aunt Viv is still mad at that. You never really seen most of the cast of "Family Matters". Outside of Townsend, Reagan Gomez Preston is the only actor from "The Parenthood" to continue working. The cast of "Living Single" fell off big time except for Queen Latifah and Kim Fields went on to direct a lot. The kids from "My Wife and Kids" are not doing anything. So.... nah this is a misrepresentation of facts.
