Just MY OPINION but SOME ropū have lost that 'old school' authenticity to their Kapa, It's like watching a broadway production these days. ( Props and fake eyelashes, running all over the place, jumping and yep, screaming lol)

I agree. This style has gone "out of fashion" to the next generation but Waihirere have kept to this style and its amazing how classic and beautiful this is when done right

Is it just me or are Te Wai-scream-rere getting worse and boring?! Te Whakaeke and Te Poi sounded like they'd been on the piss at the Opera all weekend.

@@mungoblizzard6114 ain't best anything to be pretty honest lol. Watching it on Whakaata Maori didn't improve anything. And i'm really not one to diss my own but that bracket was an absolute piss take for Waihirere that can't go ignored. If they come to te Kahui Maunga and do anything that resembles thaaaaat, then they'll be another roopu rangatira out of finals day like Te Waka Huia - who were in the pool of death, had an awesome bracket but cos the wahine were sloppy, it let them down. In saying that, both kapa roopu deserve so much kudos cos for so long they have set the standard that has uplifted ALL other roopu's game to what is truly the best stage competition in the world. And it's about time the rest of the world gets to enjoy what our people do with their music, their culture as well as our own. Cos our people are a world people. We don't just tie to NZ. We're Maori and something else. We're loved out there and despised here in our own country all over again. Story of Tangata whenua o te Ao i guess - loved abroad hated at home. So i hope Te Matatini in the future lets it be televised in other nations cos they appreciate it.

as someone who was there in person, the 'audio' was phenomenal live and they deserved that win. Ka aroha to complaining peeps like ya'll who missed out on it
