I was a cosmetologist for over 20 years. PLEASE DO NOT stretch your relaxer without first considering hair texture and length. Her hair has looser coils and tend to have stronger tensile strength. Course [sic; Coarse] hair has tighter coils; and it tends to be drier (which in turns breaks easier). Therefore, she may can stretch her relaxers without serious damage. You may not.
@sarahp.3772

That's true. I have coarse tightly coiled hair and when I was getting relaxers regularly whenever my new growth would come in, if I waited too long to get it relaxed, the already relaxed part would start falling off.

Hey thanks for the comment but I my self have coarse hair as well with very tight coils that's the reason why I have been relaxed since the age of 13years old. I can do a video showing my real hair texture when it's dry. I wish I had looser coils

When I was relaxed I only got two relaxers a year, I hated the whole process of getting it done. My stylist was excellent with the care of my hair I just didn’t like the smell and so much more so I would stretch it as long as I could. I was already considering going natural so when she moved to a different state I stopped relaxing.

Your hair turned out nice. I'm at 6 months right now but that's as far as I ever go, I usually relax at 4 months. I think people have a bad misconception about heat and it's all in how you use it. For me I feel my hair thrives because I only use salon products but that might not be the case for others. Great video 💜

Another Cosmetologist here👋🏾 The treatments were more than likely reconstructive treatments to fortify the hair cuticles. Relaxers break the hair down at a chemical level, so a good reconstructive treatment will help fill in any holes or gaps in the cuticles of the hair (like scales on a fish) to keep them strong and prevent breakage

Love the way she is applying the relaxer. Not to close to the scalp when she first start applying and not directly on the ends. Love how she smooth the hair going closer to the scalp and on the ends . The only part I did not like is when she comb the relaxer. It's best to use the back of the comb and your hands. Love that she neutralize the have and used a treatment on the hair. A lot of cosmetology don't condition hair like they did when I did hair. The hood drier is best and healthier for our hair. Good job!

I'm a cosmetologist from New York city .. stretching your relaxers for too long will do more harm than good! It will cause Server tangling, Server breakage, it's putting stress on the hair due to the different textures from the line of demarcation .. 3 months is what I recommend, and please do not relax your hair bone straight, leave some texture to your hair 😉

@debbiedebeaux
@debbiedebeaux Жыл бұрын
Truth is I started stretching after I cut my hair (eczema) so stretching has prevented relaxer overlapping and a big difference has occurred with the strength of my hair. I so have shedding but I use great hair products and I do protective styles a lot when the new growth starts piling up. I'm also not opposed to heat once a week which has helped me to not have to struggle too much.

The most ill wait is 3 months to relax my hair because when i try to work with my natural hair with relaxed hair it cause more breakage for me because im trying to comb through two different textures but i dont relax often because u need your hair to have time to grow out enough so u wont be overlapping relaxer on top of relax hair plus you will see your growth better.

Your hair is Absolutely fantastic.. the only thing I have started to do different now is I do not blow dry my hair from wet I let It air dry for 24-hours then let that sit for a further 24hours before pressing.. As the moisture inside the hair strand can boil and split the hair..so its best for future pressing between Relaxer.. I use semi-permanent relaxers and Keratin treatments once a year .. fantastic how you let all that hair grow back..plus you cut quite a bit.. well done Gold 🌟..hair care..✔

And by the way it's not a texture relaxer.. because we don't wash it out..like the keratin treatment.its a leave in conditioner. it looks and smells like relaxer but its like only 5percent strength.. some people use it every week ..but I only use it once a year because my hair is very fragile ..but Denise and super course

Why was she combing your entire hair with permanent. Your entire head didn't need it. Just the roots, maybe I'm missing something.

Right. She put it on the ends too. That's why I don't trust stylist. They have all this education in hair but don't know anything about hair...smh

Not gonna lie i had a stylist who did that all the time too. It was also after wearing braids for a while like this woman. Sometimes they bring the relaxer down the ends after its been braided for a while. Still don’t agree but i guess that’s why.

This is why im AFRAID to even take my hair to be trimmed by any stylists. My paranoia tells me that these ppl be hating and would spoil my hair on purpose.

I didn’t know you can relax and use a rinse (dye) in the same setting
@faiththomas9995

Rinse and “ dye “ are two different products. Rinse is semi permanent and can be used the same day as a relaxer . Permanent color can not. You have to wait 2 weeks to apply after relaxing 😊

Why was your already relaxed hair being quoted with relaxer though? I've heard about this but have never actually witnessed it. Your hair looks so beautiful but I'll say, I'm really afraid for you if this continues.

Looks pretty. Natural isn't for everyone all the time. When relaxers get to be too expensive or toxic, you can always go back to natutral.

@@autumn_b905 not really. Food or drinks can't give chemical burns. I have a straight hair urge like everyone but let's not minimize the risks. Got burned too many times as a child and got open wounds

yeah I always had my hair rolled every 3 weeks when I wore relaxer. I don't get why they flat iron on the same day they relax it.

@@rwaherumaggie5691 yes but I made sure to get it treated quickly with moisture and protein and kept it twisted. Only took it out when I silk press. Then the break eventually stopped. But I miss it now and regret relaxing but it looks pretty good now. Just take care of it when you initially start protein and moisture...
