Loved this tutorial!!! You were straight to the point with not a lot of small talk. Some other tutorials (not any of yours), they talk too much, and it gets frustrating. 😊❤

Loved this tutorial! I am making swaddle blankets for my new (soon to be here) granddaughter and I absolutely agree that you should NOT wash that double gauze before making the blanket. It really does make it so much easier if you wash after. If you are worried about shrinkage, just cut your fabric an inch or two larger than what you want the swaddle to finish at to allow for the shrinkage after it is made, washed & dried.

Thank you for this tutorial 😃 please do a video on how to make a large double sided gauze blanket out of several small ones. I have lots of my grandchildren gauze blankets n want to make twin size for them from their baby blankets. That would be awesome!

That's a great idea Ylecara! I have been considering how to make a fun quilt out of this fabric, so stay tuned! A Quilt would be so nice and soft out of those!

Hi! Great tutorial, where did you get the fabric ?
@TamarasJoyDIY3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! The fabric came from my local fabric shop (Fabricland), this type of fabric is easier to find in the spring/summer but just ask around at your local fabric shops to find out when they bring there supply in.

Tamara, we are having handicraft auction and I am planning to make a baby blanket. What material do I buy and how much? Thanks for sharing. Its beautiful!
@TamarasJoyDIY2 жыл бұрын
Hi Savita, Not sure if you already had your auction, but I would buy around a meter/yard of fabric to make a simple swaddle blanket. I used double gauze, it is a little easier to find in fabric stores in the summer months at least in Canada ;)

I keep trying to make the exact amount of ruffles to the blanket and measuring the length and double it at three like you said but it never work I am measuring in centimeters I don’t understand how can I make exact ruffle Lang please help
@TamarasJoyDIY3 жыл бұрын
Try to measure one side of your blanket (I am assuming it is a square) Then take that number and times it by 6. That will give you the number you can use to measure out the length of fabric to make for the ruffle. Hope that helps! Happy Sewing 🙂

Is it okay to combine double gauze fabric with a flannel fabric for a double-sided blanket (so one side is double gauze & the other is flannel)?
@TamarasJoyDIY2 жыл бұрын
Hi Carol, you could do that but I would prewash both fabrics first due to different shrink rates. You will also need to iron the double gauze flat after washing as it will wrinkle up a lot. But I think it would be worth it!!! Happy sewing💜

Does double sided gauze have another name? I’m in Australia and I’ve never heard of it, maybe it’s called something else
@TamarasJoyDIY Жыл бұрын
If it does I am unaware. You know those light swaddle blankets you can buy that often have a soft waffle pattern to it and almost looks like a light cheese cloth? That’s the same thing. It’s essentially a light fabric that has been stitched together with a second layer so it is “double” the gauze. I would assume it would be popular to use with babies in a warm climate like yours 😃 I’m sorry I can’t be more helpful Kasie.

@@TamarasJoyDIY oh I get it, I think what you’re referring to is what we call muslin EDIT: I just looked it up and it’s double Muslin or cotton gauze!

I feel dumb asking this...but what the heck is double sided gauze?
@TamarasJoyDIY3 жыл бұрын
Don't feel dumb! I am new to this fabric as well 😊 I have noticed that the popular swaddling baby blankets in the stores these days are made with double gauze. So I decided to look into it. Double gauze is a fabric that consists of two layers of very fine open weave cotton that is attached together with tiny stab stitches which is what keeps the fabric light, airy and fluffy for baby :) Hope that helps clear things up Kim 😀
