Today Tama has a big task: I'm going to show you my favorite Pokemon from my Pokemon teams, in every Pokemon game. That's a lot to explain! Come see how my team building strategy has evolved over time, from putting zero thought into it to planning entire spreadsheets for it. You'll also find out why some of my favorite Pokemon are my favorites as I go through past memorable playthroughs and special moments with each one.

My Patreon, where future exclusive videos will be posted: www.patreon.com/TamashiiHiroka Pastebin of my Crystal notes: pastebin.com/p1ksZiue Reading this over, I talk about duping a lot of TMs, but I did not end up duplicating TMs in Crystal. Instead I used the item cases in Stadium to move TMs back from Gen 1 where they had previously been duped in my Blue playthrough. This does not really make the Crystal run any more legit, just a caveat.

while it kinda sucks to hear your view on the most recent games, this type of content has been my favorite to endings in since the last video- really because now a days more people have been just criticizing pokemon games more then just having a fun time with them. Either way- this video furthers my love for Pokemon in a way that makes me want to fully experience the games in their entirety. great video!

I haven't gone back and watched the HGSS video yet so I am only just experiencing this now, but there's something about your unscripted delivery that's just really extra nice and cosy. Your enjoyment of this video format really does shine through in your presentation, and it's both an odd experience as a long time KZbin viewer, in a good way, and a really nice point of difference from the usual scripted videos. It feels like a peek behind the scenes almost, really casual and super chill, kind of like a podcast. A fun lil video, I hope you make more on other stuff when you feel like it

I had a very fun time listening to you talk about your teams. Team building has always been a very important part of Pokemon for me and hearing in depth the different types of teams and themes you made was fascinating. The nickname themes, the Stadium/Colosseum battles, the RNG manipulation I didn't understand. I even now know of someone else who has their own patch of "Pikachu grass". I've never had a themed team or a nickname scheme to follow but I do have certain guidelines I've tried to go by nowadays that being 1. try to focus on Pokemon you haven't used before and 2 always try to have a "little guy" (a small and/or weak Pokemon, kinda why I parade around with Castform as my "mascot". It was the first of guideline 2). The closest I've gotten are my Eevees. Due to circumstances I won't get into, the Leafeon plan I had for my Sun Nuzlocke fell through so I evolved my Eevee into Espeon instead. Unfortunately I had already named it Forest which now didn't fit. I still loved that Espeon and hated watching it perish. When I got a chance to use Leafeon in Arceus, I named it Forest 2. I now have decided that any Eevee I caught would be named Forest *insert number here* (changed that to "catch and use" since Forests 3, 4 and 5 didn't do much). I'm currently playing through Platinum and feel like my team reflects how much I've learned about Pokemon to where now my latest team is now my second favorite behind my first. Maybe one day I will try a theme team, you made it sound really fun.

Funnily enough, the only part of my original Gen 1 team I remember is that I picked Bulbasaur. Charmander was actually my favorite pokemon, but I picked Bulbasaur because I thought it would make me cool at school. (My logic was, everybody who picked Red would take Charmander and everybody who picked Blue would take Squirtle, so if I picked Bulbasaur everybody would be impressed that I had a rare starter... That plan did not work out.) Anyway, I do remember thinking that Zapdos was my favorite of the legendary trio because it wasn't weak to lightning. Also I used a Mewtwo eventually. I taught it Mist for some reason because it was the only pokemon that could learn that move in my party. Anyway, once I tried restarting my game to take a Charmander as my starter and I got so sad about losing my Ivysaur that I actually started crying. Eventually I realized that, as long as I didn't save the game, I would still have my Ivysaur. That was the only time I tried to reset my game. Random side note: I also cried when the S.S Anne left port without me. I watched the anime and thought that if I stayed on the ship I would get to go to an island with giant pokemon. Gen 1 was definitely my most emotional generation.

I know you said you did the Pokemon stadium team in 2016, but why didn't you make them level 51 52? Why stop at 50? I believe you get 5 extra levels each battle right? So every pokemon can be at least 51 with one pokemon at 51 with a select few being 52. Or was one of them 55 and I just missed that? 😅

I love this video! I enjoy seeing the stories behind so many of your playthroughs. Your Pokemon GSC video from 2019 helped reinvigorate my interest in Pokemon at a time where my love for the series was waning. Nowadays, I find myself playing through Pokemon games in a way similar to yours. I put so much time into preparing teams of Pokemon that either share a common theme among them or utilize fun strategies I hadn't tried before. During my playthroughs, I like coming up with some headcanon for how my unique team of 'mons came together. This way of approaching the games sparked a new interest in other roleplaying games like Elden Ring and BG3. After watching this video and seeing your drawings of your teams, I now really want to get into drawing. That looks so much fun. Thanks Tama, you're really cool😎

"I played until I got stuck, and then started over from the beginning" That was totally me when I was a kid. And now (also as a 30 year old) I'm more focused on at least beating the games I own, if not 100%'ing them. I think that change in mentality is partly born out of a desire to feel like I'm getting my money's worth out of the games I buy. Also, weirdly, I feel like I sort of owe it to the game devs to actually see all the stuff they worked so hard to make? idk if anyone else feels that way about it.

I've been playing since Yellow came out, but my favourite team was a Gen 6 triples team, centred around Mega Blastoise with Water Spout, Drizzle and Tailwind. Man, I took down so many teams of 6 legendaries and made other players rage quite it was crazy! Sure, I lost a few times but they were usually people who had a decent strategy.

i’d like to talk about my most recent playthrough team, in pokemon emerald! it was a 6 of: Swampert, Hariyama, Aggron, Flygon, Heracross, and Walrein! - Swampert gets some strong stab moves with surf + earthquake. Its typing means that it can handle a lot of pokemon very well! In the end a ran a set of Toxic, Surf, Earthquake and Ice Beam. - Heracross was probably my strongest pokemon out of damage output. I ran swarm with endure, megahorn, reversal and brick break. Megahorn accuracy can be dissapointing, but it did pretty well. it was a ground resist too - Walrein was picked up with thick fat to help in the wallace battle, because swampert really isnt a good check to water types. I ran a set of rest, blizzard, surf and body slam, usually holding a chesto berry. it worked well as a special wall but i found the ice typing made it hard tp use against any physical types e.g rock, steel, fighting - Aggron was terrible. rock ruins the steel typing significantly. it gets no real good moves through level up and you dont wanna waste any tms on it (i let flygon have earthquake). It did nothing except carry rock smash and strength tbh. the only battle it was good in was vs norman because it learn protect as a lairon - Flygon is hard because for a lot of the playthrough it felt like dead wait. Trapinch is very frail and vibrava is weak, but it was worth it once I taught it Earthquake. It wasnt massively strong but its the pokemon i used vs sydney in the elite four. - Hariyama had fake out, facade, bulk up and vital throw. it had guts as an ability so it didnt fear burn or paralysis as much. i found fakeout could get a lot of good chip for other pokemon to finish off the main flaw of the team was i really had no counter to ghost type. I just needed to wittle them down with swampert or walrein or flygon, but this was hard as will-o-wisp hurt two of those
