Sheesh, if I knew they existed way back in 2012 I would've been standing right there next to you. Now they're playing 2 shows at Madison Square Garden. You lucky lucky dog, you.

I know! ... i saw them just last July in Toronto at a perfectly sized outdoor venue. There were probably 13,000 of us there. Awesome show. I'll never forget it. They're coming back in June 2020. But this is an arena tour. They're onto the big time now. Glad I saw them when i did.

Just wow! In my opinion this is Lonerism's best track...the guitar riff in the last chorus is just eargasmic. No album will match Innerspeaker though. Much love from Ireland!

This version is perfection. Kevin's voice is unreal here. It actually sounds much better than the album version.

he used the small stone to mimic the synth warbling sound from the Pro One. my mind is blown.
@blink182lives1008 жыл бұрын
would you mind explaining a little more?
@yungsavagesleeper31988 жыл бұрын
Sure. The Pro One synth he used for the studio track to create that warbling synth at the beginning was recreated here live with a few pedals. I see him using his volume pedal, one of his blues drivers to add drive to it, but he also uses his Small Stone and turns it all the way up with his toe at 0:07. He strikes his guitar to create the sound and then quickly turns the small stone's rate knob to add the warble. I have the big box small stone he has and tried this at home so going back to watch this vid and seeing that he also does this blew my mind a bit lol. I hope this explained some to you. Now. Dom also does something with his keyboard... I wonder what that's about... maybe Kev does something that controls his keyboard. who knows. these tricksters always keep me on my music gear toes. ha.
@blink182lives1008 жыл бұрын
yungsavagesleeper dude thank u so much! Yea that made sense and yea the amount of time he puts in just messing around with all of these sounds is amazing
@TheEljay7 жыл бұрын
I think Dom just takes over with the synth by gradually fading in with Kevin until Kevin fades out, then alters the flange rate on the synth just as the intro goes on record, just so Kevin has the chance to set his pedals up for the song? Not sure but that'd make sense to moi
@Hans-ji8jd5 жыл бұрын
Kevin just strikes the guitar to obtain vibrations which are recieved by the pickups, as his phaser is turn on he starts incresing the rate so the frecuencies start to be faster and sound like the synth in the original version, is also that the amount of phaser is very high so it sounds not even like guitar. Blues drivers is also turned on, but phaser is making most of the work here. Dom is using a MIDI controller with a VTS, I don't know which VTS he is using but I would say I could be any synth with Phaser or Flanger FX, I managed to recreate this sound on a microkorg mk1. What Dom is actually doing is playing a note and incresing the amount of effect (Flanger or Phaser) and the depth of this, changing this two knobs constantly makes this weird and lovely sound.

God his set up is so nuts, what does he have clipped to his guitar cable? Maybe a IEM
@samdixon64333 жыл бұрын
from my understanding, his guitar signal is sent to the oscilloscope and is then projected as the visual background you see! his guitar has two outputs (not typical of a guitar) so he sends one directly to his pedal board(s) and the other to the oscilloscope. I think if he simply routed a second signal at the end of his pedal chain to the oscilloscope, the visuals would be so heavily morphed by all the fx being used in the pedal chain. hope that makes sense! a starting point is looking at how guitars interact with oscilloscopes!
