Kids in Jamaica start school at 3 years old. My daughter started at 2 years old (which is common) and it wasnt a problem. She didnt even cry because I prep her mentally (got her excited by telling her she is going to meet and play with new friends, she is going to write, read etc). I also spent a few hours at with her the first two weeks, in the mornings, then check on her during my lunch hour because I have a regular 9 - 5 job. I had to buy texts books (2 or 3) and yes she got home work. Home work is important it shows parents that their kid(s) learn that day especially when the child does it him or her self.

Homework is crazy these days. I think it's ridiculous to give kids homework anyway. They're already sitting at a desk for 6 1/2 hours a day, then you expect them to come home and do more work?? AND on top of the homework, they also expect the kids to read for 20 minutes and practice their spelling words for the week. My kids are in sports too so I've decided that I refuse to make my kids do homework for any longer than an hour a day. Preferably 30 minutes. Kids have chores, extra curricular activities, family time, dinner, showers, and they deserve to have their own down time just like adults need our down time as well.

I agree 1000%. It's a bit much, but these teachers don't think about down time. All they want to do is tell you what they think you should be doing with your child.
@dasespensive8763
@dasespensive8763 6 жыл бұрын
@@tristaince5389 And I fully respect teachers but I also can't help but wonder, are they not managing their time in the class room well enough? And we're having to pick up the slack off the work that should have been done at school? I'm okay with having some homework and I'm certainly not against getting involved in my kid's education, I just think it needs to be reasonable. I'm blessed that I get to be a stay at home mom, but what about parents who both work long hours? I feel bad for them. Kids shouldn't be up til 10-11 o'clock at night doing homework.
@tristaince5389
@tristaince5389 6 жыл бұрын
@@dasespensive8763 I was a stay at home mom for 3 years. I just recently went back to work. I started my son at a daycare last year and had to transfer him once the owner decided to close. This new daycare gives homework everyday to 3 year olds including weekends. I'm pretty sure they will be the type of school to give a package during winter/spring breaks. I feel like they just always want to instill learning, but don't realize that there are other forms of doing so without having to have excessive homework. When my son was in diapers, he knew that he was responsible for throwing it out after I changed him and he had to clean up his own mess when he spilled something. So teaching is an everyday thing. I don't think that they think all this homework is overwhelming. Even in college, you get days/weeks for assignments and even open book tests. These teachers are doing the most.

Really u guys are against homework I never heard any parent say this before! I have four boys their teachers give homework packets on Monday it’s due back Friday. They play basketball and football so we’re at practice three nights a week for football a game every Friday and Saturday during basketball season they practice three days a week again games Friday and Saturday I work full time I cook almost everyday they still have time to hang with their friends and play video games watch tv or whatever and be in bed by 830/9. Education is important and honestly we have no idea if our kids will have a good or bad teacher as parents it is our jobs to make sure our kids are actually comprehending and retaining information that they are being taught at school and in my opinion the best way to do that is by studying and practicing which means homework. So if I have to make their beds for them once in awhile or not let them play video games because of homework then so be it.

Kids these days are getting homework in kindergarten. My little brother just turned six, and it very hard for him to focus😂. But its not hectic homework. Its like short axtivities to help them get used to afterschool work for when the go to "big school"

Yes. My son is in the 3rd grade now but when he was in Kindergarten, he only had one worksheet to do on Wednesdays so that wasn't so bad. And even then, the teacher said, if they don't want to do it, do t make them, which I thought was really nice of her. But my daughter just had kindergarten last year and they sent home a whole packet of work for the a month at a time. It ended up being like 3 pages every single day. However, I did not make her do it. The teacher never said anything either. Thats just ridiculous for a 5 year old.

Sometimes kids know what they can get away with and will use it to their advantage. If they can see that you're getting frustrated to the point of giving up they will do it every time. It's best to get a handle on it while they are young, if not, it's not going to get easier. You have to be firm yet kind and reasonable. With my children I established a routine . After school, a snack, a short playtime to get out some of that energy, then on to homework. When homework was completed, then more play time. The quicker the homework was finished ( not sloppy and rushed), then more additional play time. Then dinner a story and to bed. I let them know that if they wasted time it would be their play time so the longer it took them to settle down the less time they had for free play. It instills a sense of responsibility and accountability.

Currently living with a family in Spain where the kids go to school from 9am-5pm. Between 3-5pm, all the kids must stay to work on “homework” with their teachers and get help with what they don’t understand. But once 5pm comes, there’s no homework or anything because they believe once the kids are home, they should be with family, relaxing, not being so focused on school. It’s also helpful so parents can work full time hours and not have to leave at 3pm to pick up their kids. Sounds ideal to me!

Tamera obviously hasn't gotten over it, she wears her feelings on her sleeves. Guess that new wig she got on came with a new attitude too lol

Camyy99 her and Jeanie had a disagreement over Sesame Street and Mrs.Tamera caught a mean attitude. They were both being rude to each other but Tamera took it as far as rolling her eyes and making faces. I thought it was immature, you can disagree but gee

That's hard to believe!!!! Homework at 5 huh? I remember at my elementary school, on the first day everyear, your parents came with you, you listened to class rules, then everyone went outside on the playground and played on inflatables, rode rides, ate funnel cake and coke floates.😍

It’s pretty interesting to see how strong and dominant black features are . The little girl is only a quarter black but she looks pretty much black .
