Thank you. You don’t need certification to be a substitute or para professional. But it changes from state to state. Texas doesn’t need certification for these jobs.

Hi madam, that was really a great eye opener to me. I was thinking that we need to do some college and 1 year to clear the exams. I’m new to usa, staying in San Antonio. I already have my certificates transcripts ready and I’m already working as a para professional at a middle school doing math and science from 6 th to 8th. And I’m very confident that if I take the test today I will surely pass. Is it really that easy, just write the exam pass and get your certification and start working.

Check TEA website. You can register there or you can enroll into ACP and get your certification. Yea, you have to pass content and PPR to get the certification. TOEFL is also waived for India. You are already in the school system. That is a plus. All the best!

You need a work visa to work. You can do the certification while you are waiting to get your EAD. Because you need certification to work as a classroom teacher. Yes, your experience will be accounted. All the best!

@@priyag1209 you can start as a substitute. You don’t need certification for that. ACP is online only. You can do it on your own pace. Once you registered with the program you can start applying for jobs. You don’t have to wait till you finish the program. The ACP will provide a certificate (SOA) using that you can start to work.
