Pedro and Callie together are just precious. Pedro seemed really protective and gentle! But, the highlight of the video throughout was Roxy in the hammock. Too ADORABLE!

One method that worked with my skittish pig was to lay down flat on the floor with my hands hidden. Her curiosity finally allowed her to approach and sniff me or eat some food just inches from me. I think hiding my hands from her view was the key.

I’ve just adopted a little male guinea pig, who I’ve named Sir Chester. He’s not very old, but he had to be separated from the other guinea pigs he was with due to his aggression towards them, ultimately making him a lone piggy, which he will continue to be for his safety and the safety of other piggies. For only being home for a few hours, he’s settling in so lovely. He’s already out exploring his enclosure and feasting on his nuggets🙈❤️

Aw, thats a amazing story My piggys are from a pet store, it was kind of short notice and I was in a panic to get more pigs because my heart pig had just passed due to a heart attack and I needed something to distract me from the horrible events of that day, I will not do that again but I have no regrets because I now have a second heart pig named Clover, and this time I got two pigs.
@pokemonfanthings44442 жыл бұрын
@@lemonshobbies I had a pig pass away. It was so sudden, we rushed to the vet and he was put down within an hour of me finding him breathing heavily from his mouth when I went to feed him and his buddy that morning. He was the leader of my two pigs so and my surviving pig had been with him since birth. Going home to one pig was so heartbreaking and I immediately started searching for a new companion for his sake more than my own since he’s only 3 and I didn’t want him to be alone for the (hopefully) next 3-7 years if his life. A shelter had a single unpaired pig and twenty dollars later I had a happy healthy pig and several accessories from a very kind shelter owner. You aren’t a bad person for getting a pig from a store. After all, many pigs from store end up in shelters. I would recommend shelters first but if none of the shelters near me had a single unpaired male pig, I would have gone to a pet store. It’s better than having a single pig. And at least you can maybe support a small ethical business. It’s great you have more than one pig now good luck ❤

I am obsessed with your videos. I impulse (not really, I got them with the intention of learning on the go-- to the extent that the pet store cage lasted two days, and one of those was when the award-winning, vet-approved pen (much less dark and narrow) was already in transit, and within an hour of getting them home I had pet insurance and, even though they seem healthy, am gonna take them to the vet for a basic checkup once they've settled in) bought ten week old guinea pigs last Friday, and have been binge-watching your videos all wheekend. They're a huge help. Pumpkin and Persimmon (after the nifflers in Fantastic Beasts) are very grateful!

Hi there. We just bought our 2 sweet black Abyssianian female guinea pigs (3 weeks old) and we've had them a week and a half. My daughters kept noticing white stuff on their hair and when I finally looked I realized they were moving around. They are tiny and white and moving fast. They look straight (not curved or bulging at all). I contacted the breeder and she said they've had flea issues and I contacted a vet and they said they can seem them Monday and prescribe Resolution (I think) today. Do you have any advice? They don't look like fleas or lice from what I researched online but we've never had either so I'm not very well versed in this. Thank you for your help! We love your channel. It has been very helpful.

Ive been catching up on most of your videos and I gotta say I really appreciate your help. I had done a tone of research before getting my pigs, so while many of your tips are not new to me, a good portion of them are. Also good to have reminders as time goes on and I enjoy watching/listening to you and so do my pigs. My apologies if this isn’t the time/place to ask, but I would like your expert opinion on this “Circus Themed Cavy Cannonball Play Tunnel” that is at my local pet store (Also available online) one of my pigs isn’t very active and I have been using the tips in your video about how to get a lazy pig to be more active. The tips worked and I want to do more and i think trying this unique seeming product would be a good idea. However I’m suspicious that it might be dangerous as it is basically a cylindrical tunnel on a seesaw and I’ve never used it before. I usually don’t get stuff at the store as I tend to make things myself snd this isn’t something I think I could. Is it a safe unique toy that will enrich their lives or is it yet another dangerous product wrongly marketed to cavy owners?

@SqueakDreams2 жыл бұрын
Hey there, you could try and add a bowl for back up but often young piggies don't need that much water, they might be using it when you aren't there and not drinking enough to make it go down hardly at all. Still change the water every day though. And putting the pellet bowl next to the water bottles might help too :)
@3bs3252 жыл бұрын
Callie is so so so cute and small I love her so much! Recently I had just taken in a pregnant piggy named Olive. She's really skittish and runs back into her hidey as soon as something or someone moves although sometimes when she thinks no one is looking, she sneaks out and nibbles on some hay or veggies. I have been reaching my hand in outside of the hidey for her to sniff since I don't really want to handle her considering she's pregnant and I could harm her or her babies but she never comes out and I'm kind of stuck with what to do. Should I wait until she has her babies and then start trying lap time or should I start now while she's still pregnant?
@SqueakDreams2 жыл бұрын
Hmm I think I would wait, especially if she's not far off giving birth, you want her to be as de-stressed as possible. But you can still do the hand feeding and in-cage taming - you should start to see an improvement when she is more settled :)

@bowlchamps372 жыл бұрын
It´s not a sign that they are tame when they come for food. They come for food because they have to eat all day long. And don´t do lap time, this is just not what the pig wants. You have guinea pigs to watch them not to cuddle them. Then get a dog,.

@SqueakDreams2 жыл бұрын
Congrats on the new piggies and thank you for rescuing, you'll find them fairly well socialised already :) They will learn how to use the bottle eventually on their own, place the pellet bowl near it (water helps with dry mouth from eating pellets!). Callie uses both so they might choose to do that once they realised how to work the bottle. 😊

Since I was born in the 1970' and had guinea-pigs in when I was about 10, I usually wore large sweatshirts during lap-time. The guinea-pigs really quickly learn to get inside our sweatshirts and would sit next to our tummy like in a kangaroo's purse. I never know for sure if the reason was mostly to hyied from us, "ruff and naughty children", but I always hoped that they also felt coasy and liked the (human) bodyheat. Sometimes, Sundays and Saturdays mornings, we also put our guinea-pigs in our beds (under the duvet), next to us. Sometimes they'd run along the sides of our bodies and legs, but they usually finished by staying in the same place somewhere. I hope they felt as nice and lazy as we did...not confortable enough to wee, though, so sadly: probably not quite...
@bowlchamps372 жыл бұрын
Well, if they go underneath your shirt, they wanna hide because they don´t like human company. They don´t even like to cuddle among each other (unless they are newborn or sick). So why would they choose to cuddle with a human that can kill them in one strike. If they hide, they fear something. And when you are close, then it´s you.

Hey one of my guinea pigs has Bumblefeet and it's bright red, not sure if it's severe though, we just clipped her nails and we're dipping her feet in epsom salt and warm water from today, i don't know what else to do since we have no vets in our city or neighbouring cities since guinea pigs are not really common here but can someone please give me other tips to help her because I don't know what else to do, plus some of the vets don't even know about guinea pigs so yea, can someone please give me ideas
@SqueakDreams2 жыл бұрын
If there's no open sores but you're sure it looks like bumblefoot, the epsom salt and heat (warm water but not too hot) is the best thing you can do to treat it - 5 mins twice a day, and rinse off with clean water after. Also consider why she may have developed it too though - is she sitting in her own pee/poop (more spot cleaning needed), is she getting older and needs soft bedding or is she not getting enough exercise - bigger cage might help. Also wire bottom cages are a definitely no-no and cause of bumblefoot. I have an older video on bumblefoot if you look on the channel.
@TommyAnnitt2 жыл бұрын
@@SqueakDreams Yes i did see your old video, it helped me alot and I'm sure she has Bumblefeet, i soak her feet in warm water and epsom salt twice a day, and i bought neosporin (google said it's ok for guinea pigs) but i don't know how to bandage her foot or hands, do you have any tips?
