I would never have thought to use the wheel bay as a jig to build the undercarriage on, remove the completed undercarriage as one piece and then finish them as two sub assemblies. Brilliant!!! I love it.

I really like your workflow. It´s exemplary. When I do such detailwork, it gets absolutely chaotic. The way you do it seems to be pretty timeefficient.

You need to get rid of those ejector pin marks. The 1/32 F16 I have is full of them too

I couldn't help but notice that you didn't eliminate the mold marks. Everything else was excellent, it's a shame that you skipped it.

what did you use to mask off the black areas on the wheels? was it regular white glue?
@TheInnerNerd8 жыл бұрын
Humbrol Maskol

@The Inner Nerd Hi, great build! I am building the F-16CJ version and was wonderinh how you managed to fit the undercarriage section into the lower fuselage after having glued the spine and and center bulkhead in? Is there a trick to it ? :)
@markjh20054 жыл бұрын
Does it involve flexing the lower fuselage to get the protruding side door actuators to fit through the space?
@TheInnerNerd4 жыл бұрын
Hello and thank you!. Yes you're right it does take some flex to get it in but it will go. I mainly used the undercarriage bay as a jig to apply later with a bit of persuasion but it will go with the methods you have mentioned :)

Just curious, because I have not seen the instructions for this kit. But I am wondering where you got the information for the colors you are using for painting the gear bay, and landing gear themselves. Mostly because I have never seen any modern U.S. Airforce, Navy, or Marine Corps aircraft with anything other than total all over white. Certainly not grey and blue. P.S. If they are correct, could it be possible for you to give us more than the 1/6,000 of a second you show us the bottle of paint you are using?
@TheInnerNerd8 жыл бұрын
Gary Cooper I used lots of reference photos of F-16's to help me paint the undercarriage as well as the instructions from Tamiya. Also the paint bottle is on for 2 seconds every time. But I can slow down the footage if it helps

Or Gary could just hit pause.

hey Inner, what did you use for masking the wheels? PVA Glue?
@TheInnerNerd5 жыл бұрын
Hi, on this model I used Humbrol Maskol. But now I prefer to use Vallejo Masking Fluid. They do the same job but the dropper bottle from Vallejo stops the Maskol drying up over time

Is the under carriage a mix of x1 and alluminium? It just says x1
@TheInnerNerd4 жыл бұрын
Yes that’s right. The main colour is white but the aluminium is used for the suspension struts
@wolfgang2007aaaaaaaa4 жыл бұрын
@@TheInnerNerd So you used white as the primer and then x1 which is black. And allumium over the top? Is that correct? I used just allumunium over the bare plastic, seems ok after weathering
@TheInnerNerd4 жыл бұрын
Yes. Black undercoat on metallic parts makes the silver colour “pop” so it appears more metallic and chrome
